 I had originally wanted to shoot a pic of my kids hugging each other and giggling away. But both of them were just a bit out of sorts and stiff. So I twisted Aimee's arm into hugging her little girl. Well - it wasn't much twisting. The twisting came in trying to get Rowan to not give a fishy face opposite Aimee's calm motherly tone. This came from the 2nd session with Rowan. I tried with Aimee and Aidan in between and had some fun outtakes. Not really a stretch for me creatively speaking but then I havent really been focusing on alot of photography lately. Shoot for a challenge here and there. Life with my congregation has taken precedence. And really - would any dad be dissapointed with having an image of his two favorite women that looks like this?

Low challenge count and a clean image like this - I am hoping for it to score well. Hoping for at least a 6.5. Should get a decent number of low votes though - very recognizable image. We shall see.



Editing steps - LR conversion, b&w conversion in PS, couple of curves layers, NI, USM, S/H, crop, resize, USM again, guassian blur faded, selective color and I think one last light USM.

Huge congrats for the ribbon Tim!!!!. Man, I agree with Phostumous about the credit to Aimee and your whole wonderful family for getting three ribbons with the same portrait formula: 1st ribbon ; 2nd ribbon....and this one. It might be a record that could be broken only by yourself.

Very nice soft tone BW shot. With the mood and expressions soft focus works here well. Good total range, tight crop and composition. Very nice.

Love the B&W. The daughters face is a little overexposed on the right, it kind of takes away from the detail. But it's an amazing shot. 9 for me =]
