I really wanted to keep busy with challenges and when sunrise/sunset appeared I knew what I had to do. I've recently got married and daringly decided to have my stag do two days before the wedding. Thankfully my friends decided to not strip me naked and handcuff me to a lamppost all night, although there was frets to! So strangely when I was thinking of a creative response to the challenge this surreal scenario sprang to mind.

I set off to work at 05:00 and got to the iconic landmark of 'Piccadilly Circus' at 07:00 a.m. just 15 minutes for me to set up. I setup the lights and played with some test shots and had 1-2 minutes to strip off and get into place. This wasn't easy with all the early birds traveling to work!! let just say I got some strange looks. I ended up taking the shot via the timer and managed 4-5 shots before the lighting changed and my feet were too numb to move.

Process:
Convert from RAW, Curves, Colour correction, Dodge/Burn, High Pass filter

note early on: I'm expecting to see lots of nice postcard sunrise and sunsets in this challenge but I'm not one to go with the masses, I'm sure this will be hot or cold for the DPC'ers but I like to be a little more creative with my work. For what it lacks in postcard beauty I hope it makes up for in other areas. Will see.

--------------

DQ'd for cloning out the small part of shorts I was wearing... I didn't think the Piccadilly Circus Police station would appreciate a fully naked man at 07:00 a.m.

OMG .. i applaud you .. or wotever the expression is ..
i get self conscious taking pics in public .. feel awkward and uncomfortable .. seeing this motivates me to get over it .. coz my feelings are you can be an excellent photographer, but to be extraordinary you have to forget yourself and be daring .. of course imagination, talent, creativity, etc etc help ..
i love your take on the challenge .. different and interesting ..
you have a unique imagination and should go far .. very far . !!..:)
i'd be interested to know where this placed ... probably a ribbon or a hm seeing you got the dq ..??..:)

I am disappointed to see where this ended up. I didn't vote in this challenge but I thought this would break 6 even though it was never going to make the front page given the DPC voters.

This is even funnier when I read that it was just you shooting and modelling! Having lived in London for a while I can imagine the people going past but also trying to mind their own business.

The bunny ears are a great touch.

This has to get one of my shoehorn awards for unexpected humor in a serious challenge. I hope there is a good story here...

It's an super excellent photo and a terrible thing to happen to somebody, but I can't take it seriously for this challenge...

I love your comical approach to the theme but it seems a tad oversharpened, especially for an image that suggests a blurry recollection.

Haha, looks like after sunset he had quite a night. Good to see something different. I wish that bulb weren't popping out a little from behind the post he's tied up to, and the edges are a bit dark imo, but perhaps that's part of the lamppost effect you were going for.

Good pic but, not meeting challenge I don't think. The challenge did give a definition of what a sunset and sunrise is.
