Love this picture and technique. I did the same with a white rose with similar, but far less engaging results. You are right, LASER pointers are a problem to control. I did my rose with quite random movements. I like your well organized transits across the subject much better.
06/15/2007 05:56:26 PM
You did that with laser pen? Wow.
06/14/2007 12:12:58 PM
Really neat. I love it.
09/13/2006 12:34:09 PM
lovely well composed and colorful image
08/29/2006 03:59:23 AM
Incredible idea and execution! Right into my favorites.
07/26/2005 08:23:12 PM
This is the most vividly imaginative shot I've ever seen. I just saw it in the forum. WOW Super.
02/06/2004 01:18:14 AM
Thank You! Will it ever be available on DPCPrints? Hope so!
09/05/2003 09:29:52 AM
Wow, the creativity of people on this site just amazes me sometimes. Outstanding shot!
06/14/2003 10:53:38 AM
Are you not going to take this photo do dpcprints?

I would love to have it somewhere in my house...
03/21/2003 06:19:24 PM
Great shot. I liked the progression of thought shown through the out takes. Very provocative, without being blatently indulgent. I want a copy of this for my wall.
02/26/2003 03:11:59 PM
Sorry for the delay but for those of you interested in the out takes they can be found at Lady In Red Out Takes. If you have any questions send me a PM and I'll do my best to help.
12/14/2002 01:12:59 PM
Wow ...
10/30/2002 08:02:00 PM
Would still love to see the tutorial posted somewhere... If the photos are not appropriate for this site, then perhaps elsewhere. The contrast and form of the lazer light really "made" this shot.
10/30/2002 10:59:00 AM
You can't please them all, Seeker.
10/29/2002 02:25:00 PM
Lisae, I'm sorry you feel that way about my shot and appreciate your comment. I spent a considerable amount of time surfing the web studying "classic" nudes trying to decide how to do this shot. I've never done a nude before so the entire experience was one of fascination and learning. I found that laser light is not very flattering to the human face. I attempted to generate a, for lack of a better word, "de Milo" effect by including only the torso. The arms introduce more complexity to the shot not to mention blocking other areas of the torso because of the stark, highly directional nature of the laser beam. I wanted a simple, clean image and by having the model stand with her hands raised above her head the subtle stomach muscles are a bit better defined while eliminating the potential interference of the arms. I thank you for the input as it's another perception on my work that I didn't have.
10/29/2002 12:29:00 AM
This is the kind of photo that makes you say "wow".. Well deserved 2nd (1st in my book however...)
10/28/2002 11:42:00 PM
This is a very cool idea, and well executed, but it leaves me cold. It's a very clinical, impersonal use of a woman's body. Something disturbs me about images of just a torso, as you often see in advertising, with nothing else... no context, no personality, etc. It reminds me of "The Rape" by Rene Magritte (//www.finesite.webart.ru/shocking/rape.jpg), which uses that kind of disembodiment of the female torso to completely objectify it.

This is just my feeling though. Well done on 2nd place :)
10/28/2002 03:08:00 PM
You hard work paid off! Congratulations on placing 2nd.
10/28/2002 12:50:00 PM
I was without words for this picture. It looks more like some 3D render than an actual photograph. I, for one, am impatiently waiting for the tutorial on this.
If it can not be published on this site, please make it available elsewhere.
Great job!!!
10/28/2002 12:39:00 PM
Congrats on the second place, Seeker. It's an awesome shot.
10/28/2002 10:24:00 AM
This is true art Seeker! Congrats!
10/28/2002 10:21:00 AM
Thanks for all the great comments. I spent close to 20 hours researching, testing and producing this shot and everyone's response to it was quite gratifying. I'm trying to figure out how to do the mini-tutorial that some have asked for but there may be too much nudity in my out-takes to be viable. PM me if you have specific questions and I'll do my best to help.
10/28/2002 05:44:00 AM
Fantastic shot.. Should of won ;-) (seriously I am surprised it didn't)

10/28/2002 02:02:00 AM
BTW, congrats on winning first place for users without cameras :-)
10/28/2002 12:29:00 AM
Great shot, you need to hang on to this female "friend" you had... i mean, if she has a boyfriend and POSE for you, dude, you need to work her :) know what i mean? I look forward for more nudes of her in the future, she has a great body and perfect for curves.
10/28/2002 12:14:00 AM
Over-amazing.

10/27/2002 10:25:00 PM
thats just beautiful. I'm going to have to steal that idea for some of my photography
10/27/2002 09:09:00 PM
Creative, sensual, sexy!
10/27/2002 08:41:00 PM
good effect, though not very original; in spite of some puritanism recently expressed by some in dpc threads, please keep figurative images coming.
10/27/2002 06:09:00 PM
Very interesting photo. I like how you did this. No I have to dig out my laser pointer and see what I can do. 9 waltoml.
10/27/2002 04:06:00 PM
I really like this! I've seen a few laser pan images this challenge, and I like this one the best! Not only because it is a nude woman, but because the laser really shows off the great shape of the body. The few black areas with no red lines are a little bit distracting but all in all its a beautiful photograph! Excellent! 10 - Konador
10/27/2002 12:16:00 AM
Peek a boo - I see you! Almost too naughty..... Nicely done.
10/27/2002 12:15:00 AM

Good work!
Congratulations and good luck!

10/24/2002 04:28:00 PM
Wow! This picture is incredible! The red laser against the pure black makes the picture to really stand out from the others. The 3D effect created by the laser against the female body gives outstanding detail. Congratulations! This could be the winning picture.
10/24/2002 12:11:00 PM
For me, you are the one. Excellent choice of subject, great execution, very acceptable focus. This provides me with the notion of how our brain is able to understand what figure was there, in perfect detal, when a camera can only see a black background and red lines. Congratulations.
10/23/2002 11:34:00 PM
Very very cool. Nice job.
10/23/2002 10:45:00 PM
Nice try
10/23/2002 07:19:00 PM
Yeah baby yeah! Use of a laser light? Excellent job. The light shows just enough to my mind racing. 10
10/23/2002 04:58:00 PM
impressive.
10/23/2002 04:12:00 PM
I really like this, very creative and unique.
10/23/2002 02:16:00 PM
a lot of folks tried this trick, you get the highest score of all of them (9) 'cause you chose a subject whose curves contrast with the straight lines of light. nice angle for the lines, how long was your exposure? my camera's got a max of 4 seconds.
having a pretty girl around comes in handy, don't it. way to get the most out of your unfair advantage.
10/23/2002 11:32:00 AM
inventive study of light and color...compositionally quite strong. excellent! (10) ~mcmurma
10/23/2002 12:00:00 AM
If this isn't dramatic lighting, I don't know what is. Great use of lighting and form. 10!
10/22/2002 07:30:00 PM
I wanted to use a laser pen in this challenge but couldn't find the right subject. You did...well done.
10/22/2002 05:15:00 PM
Very cool concept! Very well done. Nudity w/o revealing anything, it's the best! If you don't place very well, there is something wrong with the world! 10 Swash
10/22/2002 05:06:00 PM
Very funky - like an 80's disco compilation cover?!
One of several I'm marking up while commenting.
10/22/2002 03:04:00 PM
Amazing! Beautiful and Perfect. 10
10/22/2002 02:53:00 PM
A very good use of artificial lights. The picture tells the viewer right away that the photographer has really put his mind to it. I sure would like to know what type of lightning he/she has used for this shot.
10/22/2002 12:57:00 PM
Awesome !!!!!!!!! = 10 Shiiizzzam
10/22/2002 12:22:00 PM
Very nice. This might sound a little strange, and perhaps it wasn't possible to get the whole figure in for any number of reasons, but the way the body was cropped bothers me. In some ways, I feel like this is exploiting the sex angle even more than some of the more clearly nude shots this week. It's hard for me to describe. Please don't misunderstand, it's a great shot and I've scored it well -- there's just something about it that bothers me and I'm having a hard time putting it into words. If you'd like to chat about what I mean after the challenge, get in touch with me.
10/22/2002 11:07:00 AM
very cool 10
10/22/2002 01:11:00 AM
If this gets discounted for being a nude, I'll be irked. This is superb - 10.
10/22/2002 12:23:00 AM
AWESOME shot! My favorite of the laser photos. You did an excellent job. Personally, I would rather see it cropped a little higher, but otherwise it's just great. 10 ~indigo997
10/21/2002 11:14:00 PM
A 10 for me. Nothing else to say except, how'd ya do it? I *think* I know, but would like to know for sure. Beautiful photograph. Definitely one I would hang on my wall. lhall
10/21/2002 09:49:00 PM

Best of the laser shots. Very well done. A 8.
