I hope this photo is evocative - I didn't want an "average" pet portrait. I realize it will not score well, but am hoping some people like it for artistic merit (a very subjective matter, I realize). This was taken at Magnolia plantation through an old window. My husband held her from beneath. I like her poignant expression.

As soon as I saw this I thought, wow. Look at that glass and the pretty hues. Then I realized it looked alot like my only challenge winner.

Congrats on the high placement, rare and beautiful.

I loved seeing this during the challenge because it was so different. I think most of us with dogs have seen that curious "peeking-in" face. It's so cute! The color tone is perfect for this - gives off a countryside kind of feel.

This does have a lovely emotive quality to it - and I have to laugh after reading your photog comments - now I have an image of her hoisted in the air thinking, "what the...?" :)

Frankly, this was my favorite in the challenge. A good portrait with terrific environmental elements something that is rarely seen.

comment related to your "pointers to what doesn't work" question. First, with a 6.94 score, I wouldn't say it has not worked. My take is that it lacks the high contrast tack sharp details that seem to work better on average here (too "dirty"). But at this stage, I would not change anything, unless your only goal is to collect ribbons. Because this photo is at least worth the ones that ribboned - if not better. - as it is. (for one it is perfectly sharp, imho, where it needs to be, no more).

The colours and the mood of this image are really nice. For me the composition is perfect. Based on the score, it looks like the voters agree. I think what might have pushed this up in the standings a little bit more would be if the dog were sharper.

This was neglected by posthumous but not the public. I did give this a 7 and if I weren't having such a hellish week I would have bumped it higher, given it a comment, etc.

Congrats on the top ten -- terrific photo. There's something off about her pose or body language; having read now that she is being held by someone explains it perfectly!

It is VERY evocative - splendid creativity! As funny as some of the portrait studio shots might be, they just seem too unnatural in that setting. This is perfect. :)
