***Post Challenge** WOW!! What can I say? I was blown away by the score and the views throughout the voting period...and it is still continuing. As I write this the views top first and second place.
Also this takes first place in my portfolio of amount of favourites during voting...for this image -11.
Anyways...this is my girl...she is now 10. She cut her hair off not once, but three times in a week when she was 5. She cut it soo short that the hairdresser couldn't work out how she didn't cut herself.
Her hair has not been cut since, only a couple of trims....so what you see is 5 years growth. When she washes it, is reaches past her backside.
As for the pose....I asked her to take this pose and she did....she held it for quite a while...my biggest concern was making sure she kept her elbows together. To be honest...I didn't see the pose as a big deal....I have and can still hold this pose...so I just thought it was the norm. I have two flexible children...the third...he is just my gentleman.
I have other images from this shoot that I am yet to work with.
As for processing...I shot in BW so it was really a bit of heal/clone (to remove the very tips of the studio lights which I had over the top of her) and some Levels, Curves, Brightness/Contrast.
That's really about it.

Wow! Amazing image & model! I'm thinking some of those supermodels are going to have to retire very soon...because they won't have any work when this little lady grows up!
Dudesy! What's with the Outback! Y'all got something in the water down there? Two photographers...Same family...excellent photos on either side of the camera! A photo monopoly going on here? Hmmmmmmm?
I know your book is great, but maybe don't send it first! Just bottle some of that water!
(A consistent score above 6.0,...Is that too much to ask!??? But you have a 10 yr. old here who is smackin' my Hmmm Hmmm in the score department...) O, well, I guess that's why I have a teacher personality. The saying is "Them what can does! Them what can't teaches!" :}
Hey Judi, Im not able to send PM right now, but I was wondering if you would take a look at my newest photo shoot "Krissy Photo Shoot 2008", I respect your advice and opinions so much, it would really mean a lot.
excellent capture Judi, black and white is a perfect choice for this shot. well done and congrats on the top three shot.
PS she is looking more and more like you every day cheers Jase
beautiful and captivating image
Kita will have to choose whether to be a model or a photographer soon.
not many can do both.
OH hang on, her mother did it. lol
I'm just doing a pose for the camera but I didn't know it will offend you. For that I'm sorry.
Oh no offence taken. It's a great shot and pose. I gave it a high score. But a 16x24 print? Maybe it's because I'm a dad, but I wouldn't be selling 16x24 prints of my girl.
Of course, I do live in a different place and I'm pretty Catholic too.
I think we have become overly concerned about photos of children. There is no nudity in this photo, and while the child is beautiful, I don't think it is sexual.
Now anyone who wants to see nude children (including exposed genitial) , all they have to do is look at painting done by The Masters, including those on display in the Vatican.
Judi, congrats on this wonderful image. It was my favorite of the challenge by far. I love the high key and the way her eyes look through you. You are going to have your hands full in a few years scaring off the boys. Get that shotgun ready!
Wow, Judi, amazing shot! And a great model as well! This is so very original, I'm really amazed by it every time I look at it. The expression of Kita, combined with the amazing pose and the beautiful hair make this a wonderful image! Congratulations to both of you!
Judi,Kita, No matter what someone is going to read too much into a photo. I think Judi knows me well enough when I say In my personal opinion as an artistic piece, I think the photo is simply gorgeous and kudos to both of you for pulling it off so very well!!
I was going to comment on some of the posts below but meh I dont think its worth it :)

Love how you used high key to isolate your fabulous subject, and the pose adds considerable interest. Congrats on the high score, this certainly deserved it!
Judi, of all your shots I have enjoyed over the past few years, this one may be the most arresting. It's such a perfectly executed shot, and technically perfect. One of the handful of shots, IMO, that takes DPC to a whole new level. Just amazing.
This is just an incredible shot Judi, congrats on amazing shot with great contrast and composition. Just an amazing portrait and IMO should have been the blue. I wish I could find that troll that gave you a 1 and have some alone time with him/her in an alley with no witnesses. :) Anyway congrats again on a breathtaking shot.
well, you know i love your shots and i have told you before what a beautiful girl you have, you have received many positive comments on this shot, all heavily deserved. my only reservation (and please understand i am not trying to be a trouble maker) is that the pose seem just a TAD provocative for a 10 year old. it probably wouldn't jump out at me like that except for the fact that she looks like she may be nude. i do love the photo in and of itself. of course as always its just one mans opinion.
Hahahaha..thankyou for that. Do you know....that I have been waiting all week for someone to be brave enough to come forward and say what you said. That thought did cross both Kita and my mind before I submitted it....but I assured her that after that last entry of mine being falsely mistaken as nude, that the most important thing was that we both knew that she was fully clothed.

Sweet foto Judi!! Congrats on the ribbon and this was one of the few that I gave a "10" during the challenge. Great shot and wonderful comments. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Great shot. Oh and Kita has some nice pictures herself. It's sad when a 10 year old takes better pictures than you (let her know I said that please).
The first thing I thought of when I saw this image is from a scary movie and it's trailer. The little boy is climbing the stairs and his hind feet flip over his body to climb the stairs.
Congrats judi! I suspected this was yours when i saw it. wonderful shot...wish my girls would quit cutting thier hair! truly a beautiful shot of your beautiful daughter. IMHO this shouldve placed 1st but Im happy to see it on the front page. congrats again
~~Cher~~
Awesome pose and what a beautiful young daughter you have.....
I really love this portrait as it is so emotive and so strong in a gentle sort of way.....
Well done to another one of my dear Aussie friends.....
Also a wonderful portrait of one of our younger DPC members. Well done Kita, You have an amazing Mother who take the most amazing photos that so deserve ribbons.....
thank you everyone for the comments on mum's image. I enjoyed posing in this formation for the camera. Though I have to say, my muscles did hurt afterwards.
Another top entry Judi, haveing such a talented and photogenic subject is a great advantage, with your skills in capturing this talent is a masterpiece in its self.
What a beautiful shot, Judi!! I wish I could have gotten farther in my voting...this would have been a 10 from me.
You have the perfect model in your daughter. Her face is the kind that is gonna make a ton of guys cry in a few years...if she isn't already!! I hadn't realized she was your daughter until reading it here. I think she was the model you used for "Fragile" in the Deja Vu III Challenge, wasn't she. Can definitely see where she gets her looks!!
Woohoo another ribbon for my second favorite redhead (I publicly must defer to my wife! :-P ) How about some comments about how ya got this effect...
TC
This is one of my top picks of the challenge. I'm a little surprised to find there aren’t more using high-key to push the contrast in this contest. This is excellent in every way! 10 from me
This does, imho, exactly what the challenge asked and is well-done too. The feet are a little odd, but that may just be because I haven't had my monitor calibrated lately (may be losing some dark tones).
The hair contrasts well against the high key, which without the high key effect might not be so dominant. As the viewer, I find the pose somewhat 'unsettling', but, of course, as the photographer, it is your call and choice.
wow! what a face, what a picture! I'm still trying to figure out which entry will be the best for object isolation by contrast, but this one deserves 10 anyway! :) hm-m-m. I would say maybe hairs on right side look somewhat .... how/what to say? well, never mind! maybe nose is too white? so, it brings you from 11 to 10 ;)
Incredibly beautiful (and limber) model. The pose is verrrrry interesting. It makes me wonder if there is a yoga pose called the Spider... i can't stop looking at this very unique image. Good luck in the challenge!! 9
Wow! I used to be that flexible. But now. . .it is nothing short of awe inspiring :) I love the way you did the Lady Godiva stunning hair composition! This is wonderfuly artistic and beautiful.
Love the tendrils. With the angle of her legs, it almost has a beautiful spiderlike feel to it. I'm assuming the slight tilt to the right is intentional. Since it has such nice symmetry, I might've had it level, but that's just me. She is truly lovely.
