Damn, this took me hours. Tried it from under the bed, with a cardboard city. No way to get the ligths right. Switch to the bathroom. Light was easier there, but it's a small room. Switched to wide angle lense. Still not satisfied with the result, did not recognize a city. Then took my son's wooden building blocks to replace the cardboard silhoutte, and that worked. I think. Well, I like it, and that's what counts. Let's see how you guys like it.

Who cares about votes? I won an OOBIE, got my 15 minutes of fame, and so many nice comments. Once I noted why the vote was low (Never even crossed my mind that some people might not see the skyline), I had a great week looking at the score bouncing up and down. And I am really proud of the OOBIE. Such a great award to win.

Thnx all for the kind words and all apologies accepted. :)

I saw the city right away. I love the use of light and shadow for this. Very creative! Congrats on the OOBIE!

Very well hidden in plain sight.

I saw the city during voting and wondered if that was a whole bunch of product in the bathroom window... glad its not... no one needs that much product. ;-) Love it!

Sheesh, I'm embarrassed; count me as one of those who utterly missed the "city" part of this one :-( We ought to petition SC for a retroactive voting adjustment on this shot LOL.

Wow. This is one of those images that even if I had stared at it for hours would never have seen the city's shadow. What can I can I say?

I am just the same - I came back to the photo a few times duing voting and STILL didn't see what was (in retrospect) so obviously there, yet when I viewed the thumbnail in the Posthumous thread I 'saw' it straight away. Apologies from me for my low score.

That´s a shame Mark, think this one is severely underrated and should have scored much higher. I do feel it could have been processed better, at least for my taste the image is pretty flat when it comes to b/w conversion and contrast, a simple levels adjustment would have made this shot pop much more off the screen. Just PM me with your email adress if you want me to show you what I mean. Anyway, congrats on a great shot!

Sometimes is breaks your heart to know that you are right about something and I am truely sorry that my original comment turned out to be right and that you did suffer at the hands of speed voters. Look at the difference between the average mark of those commenting and your overall average score and you will see that those who saw the hidden city truely loved this

I have put this is in the Posthumous Ribbons Of The Week I hope that is OK

A great shot

You were robbed! If there's a hidden city anywhere, it is in this shot!

Couldn't see how this could possibly meet the challenge... then I saw the skyline on the wall! Way to go!!! (9)

I hope this does well. It's outside-the-box, and requires some study to get, but is well worth it. Excellent interpretation of the challenge, and very well executed.

Is that set of shadows the city skyline? It sure took me a while to see it. Nicely done.

I was about to give this a 3 when I spotted the shadow. Very clever. I hope this does not go unnoticed by too many.

Oh no......I bet this image is going to be way too subtle for speed voters. Brillaint use of shadows for the 'city skyline'

Just an exceptional idea which has been wonderfully executed 9

I like the play of the shadows on the wall, similar to the skyline of a city.

Yep, probably the most hidden parts of our cities and for good reason. Well captured.
