After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
---------------------------------------
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
---------------------------------------
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
---------------------------------------
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
---------------------------------------
32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
---------------------------------------
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
---------------------------------------
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
---------------------------------------
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
---------------------------------------
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
---------------------------------------
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

fantastic shot. No idea how you did that nail so convincingly. It really looks like it has pierced the foot.

Mark, this is so awesome! I wish it could be right up there where it belongs next to Daniel's with a ribbon! Gotta add this one to my favorites!

Very well done. Brutal. Great textures and detail, realistic looking blood. Good b&w which is integrated rather than gratuitous.

Nice job, very creative and unique. Think the contrast could go up a little, but otherwise great. 9

A disturbing image but very well done. Your lighting is perfect and wonderful job with the B&W conversion. Only complaint I have is the light reflection in the big toe, but it's no biggie.

Incredibly strking picture. Just makes you gasp. A distraction for me is the big toenail - too light? Excellent details and great use of black and white.

You are brave (for the submission not the actual pose - well for that too!) and I hope you are rewarded for it. Somehow I don't think to many will like it but I hope I'm wrong. Did you try and selective desat blood on the left ankle? Maybe it is just my monitor. 8

I appreciate the scripture quote. Well chosen, given the lighting. He was crucified in the evening, and this could have been precisely the view as the 3-hour darkness lifted. I hope you get the blue for this. You deserve it for your hard work. Only one flaw above the heel on the post - should be cloned to remove the post-like impression. Otherwise intense, dramatic image. Thank you!

Strong image with a convincing statement. The wood looks good and raw and the feet placement artistic.
