Definately original. I like the creativness in this. The something new is very clear. Good photo, yes. Something I could look at for hours, no. A little bland for my taste. None the less, that does not mean that it's not a good photo. Lighting is great, angle is great and the point is very clear. Congrats and good luck in the challenge.

Excellent photo. Very creative! I like the simplicity yet it's also interesting. Technically I don't see anything I could improve.
This photo is one of my two 10's this week.

A good concept - very well executed. LIghting and framing are both good. Interesting arrangement of your subject. Great work.

I can think of two or three things I would have changed about this picture, but I like it.

This one looks realy neat 9

Easily my favorite pic of this challenge, I like the concept and arrangement of the matches. I think it could be improved just a tad with better lighting, trying to eliminate those shadows. Plus, it seems jusy a bit out of focus. But all in all, a great photo. 10 md

Nice setup.

cool idea. nice white background. the only thing i'm not 100% sold on (and i'm also not sure how to change that) is that all the matches are leading my eyes to the middle of the shot ... and there's nothing there for the eye to focus on. -- gr8photos (7)

Creative thinking and I like that!
08/15/2002 04:49:00 PM
Good idea. Focus is a bit soft. Slightly overexposed.
08/15/2002 01:59:00 PM
Yep, it's new.
First time i see a picture like this, so thats new too.

This is one of those pictures that one will either love or hate – I love it. Great use of macro, inventive and well shot… Meets the challenge… (10)

Good contrast, the pattern of the matches works really well to lead you to the new one. Simplicity is sometimes the best way to go. Maybe if the blackened ones were a little more focused? They look weird for some reason.

Excellent composition... Wonderful light... Touchable textures... A solid 10 all around... Congrats on a great capture...
08/14/2002 11:53:00 AM
I thought you had a good element of design in this photo. The new match really stands out.
08/14/2002 10:31:00 AM
Which one is the new one?! Simple but effective picture. Less shadows on the burnt matches might have been better.
08/14/2002 08:33:00 AM
I like the symmetry and the arrangement. Might you have gotten rid of the shadow or did that make the photo too flat?
08/13/2002 10:19:00 PM
I think thre should have been more than just one new match--that would add balance to the coloring scheme...
08/13/2002 10:13:00 PM
Something new.
Composition - pretty good
Technical Aspects - pretty good.
Meets Challenge - sort of. Unused is not necessarily new.
Visual Impact / Originality – pretty good

Very Nice Photo. Finding something new that is a little different is quite difficult but I think you did it here. This is my favorite pic this round.

nice concept.

I think this idea is fabulous and the colours, crispness and contrast are fantastic. I don't like the layout of the matches but that's probably a personal preference.

Better lighting and less shadow would have helped me score this higher. Good creative thought though....
08/12/2002 02:50:00 PM
Like it. Original.
08/12/2002 12:21:00 PM
striking..........HA! get it?! ha ha
08/12/2002 12:09:00 PM
original. that's cool. it needs more contrast and color.
08/12/2002 11:56:00 AM
Now THAT is a great idea for "new" (unlike most of the other photos). Great job!
08/12/2002 10:52:00 AM
This is definitely different and creative.
08/12/2002 09:23:00 AM
Interesting idea. Good photo, but a little too bright.
08/12/2002 08:47:00 AM
Nice composition - it definitely emphasized "Something New"
08/12/2002 01:03:00 AM
