		| | OK now this one made me go "Awwwwwww". How very sweet or should I say bittersweet? Love the Star Wars bag. Even if he is just "pretending" this still kind of chokes me up! That'll my little one all too soon. |

		| | Thanks for all of the awesome comments. I am pleased with my "Top 10" finish. To address a couple of comments, it was a touch dark, but lightening in postprocessing made teh colors do funky things. I left the column on teh right to make the little boy look smaller, and i didn't include the school name for a couple of reasons. Primarily because it is Canton MIDDLE School, and this kid is obviously not in 6th grade. None of the elementary schools around had teh right look that i wanted. Again thanks! |

		| | excellent. great composition, subject, focus. my only nitpicks: maybe a stop or two too dark, and you might want to try cropping off some of the right hand side. otherwise, everything is really great. good work. |

		| | This is the third time I have looked at this image, the thumbnail gets my attention with the blue bag. Then I see thge full size image I get lost in all the details, maybe a tighter crop and a slightly different angle to just focus on the child and the word 'SCHOOL' and a bit of the front door handle. Still one of my top ten picks this week. |

		| | It looks like he's doubting if he shoud go or not. You should have given him a laser-swords too :) Seriously, I like the strong composition of this photo and the way the blue colored bag stands out is superb. Besides that I like the way you showed the first schoolday a lot! The angle of the wall on the right is distrubing though. Maybe you should have framed/cropped the photo in such way that it would not be visable at all. That's the only reason I give it a 9 instead of a 10.

		| | I like the emotional hesitation this shot portrays. The clarity is very nice, but some parts seem dark to me, like the boy's arm and the entryway. I like the entryway being dark, implies a foreboding, but not the arm. 7 Swash |

		| | This photo hits hard with me cause I have a little boy too who will be going to pre school in the near future. This could have been entered into the fear challenge too! I love how you captured the word school in the photo like that. Wouldn't make as much sense if you had left that out. Really nice photo. I only slightly understood the title the first time I glanced through and voted now I see the little lunch bag. That's too cute. Great job and good luck in the challenge. |

		| | This is a great image. It conveys so much – my interpretation is first day at (a new) school. The child in the picture has been – by accident or by design – posed to perfection. A great title would have been 'I need a hug'. The loneliness conveyed makes you want to reach out and reassure the little chap that everything's going to be all right. The angle produces a superb sense of scale and creates a feeling of trepidation for both the child and the onlooker. This is a really professionally executed shot and deserves 10 easily. Great shot all round, good luckâ€Â¦ |

		| | This is definitely a fitting subject. I can almost feel the aprehension myself. The large open archway looks inviting but the shadow and darkness of the archway still make it look scary (in the mind of a 6 year old, that is). Score: 7

		| | Find this a powerful and compelling image. It conveys strongly the feelings of awe and being overwhelmed this child must feel when entering school for the first day. I bet you will get some comments on why you did not crop out the right wall but I think it adds dimension to the overwhelming environment the child finds it in. You may also get comments on the doors being too dark and not having enough detail. Again, I suppose you did so deliberately to add to the child's feelings of darkness and awe. Well done. -9 Journey |

		| | I feel a desperate need to crop and rotate this... I even saved as just to satisfy the urge in photoshop, but mindful of copyright and invasion of privacy I have now deleted it completely from my PC. Lovely subject matter and I love that you have him facing the school rather than you. I find the image overall too dark. 6, Kavey
