My thanks to all commenters but especially to Mariuca whose early comment gave me just the inspiration I had been hoping for.
I took the creation back into edit, gave it a flip, turned the birds around so they were flying out of the frame, and added one more, still inside. I had tried each of these changes at some stage in my editing - the flip, the extra bird, the switch in direction for the birds. But it took the suggestion of "Empty Cages" for the title to make things click, so to speak. The minute I read the comment, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. This, then, is the final image LOL

It's almost roll-over and I know this is going to finish well. How well remains to be seen. But after an excruciatingly slow week in terms of voting, it has been very exciting for me to watch the scores climb (for the most part) steadily today and to know this one was going to be fine. I love it . . . already have the "new and improved" version ready to go. I went to quite a bit of trouble for the birds, so thank you, everyone, for liking them :)
And yes, Don, the "reflection" is a second perspective of the same building and "surreal" is exactly what I was going for here. Thank you. |
