Chalk

Good for Ben. He found something a little interesting and beautiful in chalk.

Pretty busy lately... little to no time to shoot, or vote, or comment... I did vote on From the Knees Down, and here are my picks for:

Most Under Appreciated IMHO (aka MUAIMHOs)

I don't understand that, Leo. Why are you awarding one of Don's ribbons?

That's what I was wondering and just PM'ed Leo inquiring.

"...I'm creating this thread to encourage people to show, week after week, challenge after challenge, their preferences for different photos than the ones winning DPC ribbons. I think it's important to give some visibility to other works not aligned with the mainstream taste, and give support to photographers with different views and approaches to photography..."

That's not a blue ribbon anymore... and I liked the creativity on that photo, as much as quality of it... so, I am supporting hotpasta ;)

Ah, OK. But I think the courtesy is to award your own ribbon, or just call up the photo here. I think the blue/red/yellow hands are Don's creation and his personal award. Does that make sense?

That's ok, this is my very first time I am awarding someone... so, let's say "exceptions don't break the rules" ;) I am sure one exception wouldn't hurt :-)

That's what one of John Gotti's captains said as he skimmed a little $ off the top for himself. May he rest in peace.

Simply offering Enzo your own praise here would be more meaningful. Awarding him someone else's opinion doesn't really make any sense.
10/26/2010 12:21:54 PM · #1115
Yea Leo. Give him one of your hats you cheapskate! And i think Don should have one as well as compensation for you pinching his awards to give to others. ;)

For Sound ....
by 2mccs
by mainer
by skewsme

These three bottom-of-the-pile images did exactly what was required, and without cheap gimmickry, to convey sound visually and in my view quite beautifully. These are pictures that you can hear (if you listen), and NOT merely pictures of something that makes a sound.

Pictures of guitars (etc) are not about sound; they are about guitars.

I weep. So does my guitar.

As posthumous has refused to provide any further recognition of bspurgeon until November, I will take up the slack and point out this lovely entry in Body Forms:

And I'll be crass enough to quote my own comment: "... comprehension, vision, restraint. If only you could pass them around."
10/27/2010 03:14:35 AM · #1123
I loved this one from Body Forms

eta: Didn't check the comments, it has the PH blue already... congratulations :)

Thanks so much Paul for the mention and for placing me in such good company. Your other 2 picks were my favorites.

Thank you Paul for the recognition and your generous comment, the image is a personal favorite of mine. I quite enjoyed the 64 one and two votes. 64 missed opportunities to explore an image.
