Hi all
at Leo's invite, am dropping this one in here...was getting home about 5am after a (baby) delivery when I saw this great moon..waited for clouds to move a bit, then got myself behind some willow branches by standing on the front stoop...

Happy Labor Day wkend!

A scenery shot. I think I just like the auto setting for the P&S camera.

Good eye. This was shot along the scenic highway right below Vista House.

I have a minor complication. Don't know if anyone noticed, but I've missed the past couple days in getting an image posted in here.

It's not for lack of shooting...the problem is the last two days shooting with my new P&S netted some photos I'm using in some upcoming challenges, and all the "outtakes" would give them away. :-/

Maybe I'll turn the sound off on it and sneak a couple shots in church this morning. :-D

Same here. They are turning out well and I'm holding a couple back.

Good luck in the challenges, it'd be so great to see a P&S score high.

Not having that much success, the first one looks like it's coming in with the pack. I'll know how the second one goes over in about an hour. The best ones just didn't fit any of this weeks challenges, but I did get some really good ones. This is one of the best so far, and has already been "explored" on Flickr:

A shame there is not a teeny person visible in the picture.

Ok. I didn't sneak the camera into church (chickened out). :-) But I did grab this shot tonight when I went out to the barn.

A couple of more taken tonight from and of the Singapore Flyer.

I have some others from this trip, but I might use one of them for the Free Study, so they'll have to wait.

For Day 6 - this was taken during dinner at one of our favorite restaurants

And for today, my B-day... a shot in the Infinity limo that I cruised in earlier today. Unfortunately, I cannot share more just now or I'd give away a challenge entry. :D

I did some comparison tests the other day between my A530 and Powershot S5. I knew the A530 compared favorably, but this 1:1 crop of the same scene shows me something that we already knew: the more pixels you pack onto a given sensor, the more noise you get.

Full sized image here

A530:
5 Mp
ISO 100
1/250th second
F5.6

Powershot S5 IS:
8Mp
ISO 100
1/400th second
F5.0

Note: 1:1 crop of both images, A530 photo was taken a few yards closer to subject, so despite the resolution difference, they are similar sizes in the frame.

.....

I hope nobody minds if I go for some excessive PP.

This is a true snapshot with a point and shoot. My son Robert is a pilot and he takes me up when we can get time. This weekend we were in an Aeronica Champ built about 64 years ago and recently restored by one of my flying friends.

After reading the all about tone mapping earlier I decided to try it on one of my random shots taken while blackberry picking on Sunday. I got the first try wrong as I didnt have the mask clicked but the image when I inverted something. No idea what that meant technically but I kinda like the result! Im just trying stuff out to see if taking part in the HDR challenge is a good or bad idea..

CC invited & welcome!

I've been out of town over the long weekend, so most of my recent P&S pictures are more documentary than "artistic" in nature.
