Here's a great example of an image which has perplexed me. This is a roseate spoonbill in the mangroves at Ding Darling Reserve, near Sanibel Island, FL. The image was captured in Feb. '08. I thought it was great environmental portrait of the exotic (to me) bird. But, this image was globally panned as "not interesting". I'll have to temper my enthusiasm for "exotic" birds. When one lives in the mountains, one loses perspective.

Wow, I love all these photos! I am inserting my first photo into a forum because I happen to have a bird photo!
It's a female ruby-throated hummingbird that stuck around my house for a good 15 minutes for photo-ops!
It's not quite to the caliber of any posted so far but it feels good to finally contribute something.
And hahn23, your spoonbill is exotic to me since I've never seen one in person. Maybe exotic (like beauty) is in the eye of the beholder?

remove the words ?image_ID= and just leave in the number, that should do it. |

hey prash! I think the sea gull models have to work on their poses--mine did the same pose as yours!

Very disoriented mockingbird ( I think ) from the day after the ice storm. He couldn't decide to avoid me or to pose for me.
Ms. cardinal found a clear twig for a perch amidst all the ice.

Wow, there's some great shots here, and I'm really enjoying the sheer variety. It's great to get a close look at birds that aren't local.
Lol, everybody gets these but I thought it was a fun shot. Yup, it's spring!
