I do. I like the fact than you can't get two same photos with the muse (2.0), which makes each photo very unique. It's not too hard for handling once you get a little practice. Right now, I handle it with only one hand. |

My dumb question of the day... Does anyone know how to change the aperture on the lensbaby 1.0? Where do you place the disc and how do you keep it in there? Thanks. |

I use only one hand to control my LB2 also. I'm left handed so maybe that makes it a bit easier for me? Don't know. The way they show you to do it at the LB site is just too weird and unnatural feeling...allowing for less control IMO. Also, I would like a Composer eventually for some slower shutter, dim light work, but there are just some things you can't do with that you can do with the Muse or the older LBs. |

the LB 1.0 keeps the discs in place with a little rubber ring, that you push down onto the disc using the knobby end of your aperture disc holder - if you bought yours used and it didn't come with a ring, you can contact LB maybe to see if they can provide a replacement, or maybe repurpose a small rubber ring from the plumbing department of a Home Depot or something.
LB customer service is pretty excellent, I'd try the 800 number first... |

Great, thanks for the answer. Off to go look for the rubber ring. |

Hmh, I'm curious, what are you reffering to, except for the slow shutter speed? I haven't tried Composer yet... Are you talking about that wonderful splash of light you get when you bend it intensely ;-) ? |

Thanks for the tip on free shipping! I went for the Lensbaby Accessories Kit here.
My composer arrived last week. When my beloved discovered I had bought myself a Christmas present, he gave me the cash so HE could buy it (and we don't even exchange gifts usually :-) So with that money burning a hole in my pocket, I had to buy myself an additional present :-) |

I was under the impression the both the muse and composer used identical 'glass' and was pretty sure you can do everything the muse can do with the composer? I went for the composer as much for ease of use as repeatability. |

The only thing I saw, Andi, was the the Muse has a wee bit closer focus distance - something like 12 inches versus 18 inches for the Composer. |

I believe the muse, with its bellows, is capable of more extreme tilt than the composer. That's certainly why it can focus closer than the composer, since the optics are otherwise identical between all 3 models, including the control freak. They all use the same sets of interchangeable optics.

I think RKT was referring to the use of a lensbaby muse or older 1.0 and 2.0 it is hard to do long exposures because you have to hold the lens in position. This can be difficult to prevent moving of the lens for extended exposures thus causing the sweet spot not to be so sweet anymore. The composer and control freak, along with the old 3.0 can be locked into position to avoid movement. |

Sorry, think you didn't read the question thoroughly ;-) I wonder weather you can bend the lense (the composer) as much as muse (or 2.0 which uses the same principel) so that you can literally see the edge of the lense ring!? |

no you can't bend the composer as much as the muse - if you want as bendy as you can get, the muse is the better option. |

...exactly.
The key difference, as Bear mentioned in a previous post, is the bellows. I like to pretend it's a wee view camera smacked on the front of my digital cam...it's like a poor mans tilt shift lens. I suppose this may be hard to understand for those who have never used a view camera, I know Bear knows what I'm referring to. One of my favorite subjects to shoot with my LB is architecture. It's not just about the bending of the bellows one way or the other. You can hold the optical plane parallel to the sensor and shift it around. I actually rarely do extreme bending...mostly I love the soft gentle blur and odd depth/perspective shifts I can achieve with mindful maneuvering and my bellowed LB2.

Good point. So what is the longest exposure (for all practical purposes) that one can hope to achieve with the Muse? Same as that for any handheld shooting -- about 1/60? |
