First snow of the winter here. Using a smaller aperture, MUCH less blur. Lot of curvature with the W#A attachment. PP uses the demo of Topaz, so shoot me :-)

Here's a thought...what would happen if I used a 1.4 telextender or extension tubes? Just thinking outloud..I am gonna have to try...

I can tell ya right now one thing that will happen: ever notice how if you tilt too much in a given direction you get extreme vignetting and outright image cutoff? Run an extender or extension tubes and it will dramatically reduce the amount of tilt you can use without cutoff...

Have tried both and get an error, methinks it would work if you taped up the electric thingies

I just ordered the macro kit, and the Creative Aperture kit. Now I need to go find some interesting punches. This is going to be fun. I look forward to seeing what everyone does.

Edit to add they have free shipping right now.

Santa says the double glass muse and macro kit were shipped today. I hope to join in. Thanks!

I have the original Lensbaby 2.0 and use Kenko extension tubes with no problem. It is difficult to find a sweet spot if you use more than one at a time...

This is gonna be an extraordinary landscape lens :-) This is the first I've processed from venturing out in the tail end of the storm this morning, 4WD engaged...

Those white specks are actually snowflakes btw; they show better at higher resolution...

Might I suggest...

There's a real novelty effect to the Lensbaby -- something gimmicky and perhaps trendy about it. I see a tendency for folks to go overboard, and be so wowed by the effect that the composition or scene itself becomes secondary -- kind of like using an effects filter in post-processing.

I think the Lensbaby images that are going to have the most profound impact and staying power are the ones that are truly enhanced by the effect -- in other words, where the Lensbaby is a means to an end, and not an end in itself.

I only say this in anticipation of the sheer volume of stuff that is coming. 50-ish participants times 31 days could get tiring, so I'm hoping folks will take the time to ask how the Lensbaby effect is adding to an already thoughtful image or composition.

Just some thoughts. There's certainly some talent here, so I'm excited to see what's in store. At this point, I don't know if Santa (my gosh, I almost typed "Satan"!) is going to pull through for me. I still plan to get one, but either way, I'll be hanging out here dropping comments.

Well, I hear ya, and that IS on my mind. But when I got Photomatix, for a while I went way overboard as I was playing with it, then in the end I got pretty rational and it's a major-useful tool for me. As far as the Lensbaby goes, I'm absolutely determined to use it for a new (for me) sort of landscape image, and I'm just starting to grope my way towards that now, so bear with me eh? :-)

Fear not - you won't get 31 from me. I don't think mine will be here until after the new year, and I can't shoot during the week much.

I'll most likely only shoot on my days off. My work days are 12 hour days and don't allow a lot of time for other stuff. Maybe some macros. However, my days off are wide open for anything.

I've been looking through some of the Lensbaby site guru galleries and noticed that some of the best shots are the ones that the effect adds to the picture. Not the main focus of the shot. So the way I see it, is to get a good subject and go from there.

Exactly.

Is anyone here using the Muse for any other reason than the fact that it's $100 less than the Composer?

Yes....because it is a $120 less. ;)

I thought about the Muse and decided to go with the Composer simply because I think it will be easier for me to handle. If you have strong hands, I think the Muse will be fine.

I bought the Lensbaby 1.0 about 6 months ago (or longer, not really sure) for the simple fact that it was $96.
