Thanks

DPI is irrelevant to screen viewing. It only matters when you are defining print sizes/resolutions for a printer. Your screen maps pixel-for-pixel; a 640-pixel images uses 640 pixels on your screen, period.

If you have a 720-pixel image printed at 72 pixels per inch, it would make a 10-inch print. Print it at 360 pixels per inch, and it becomes a 2-inch print. See? The RESOLUTION delivered to the printer is higher. But screens, as I said, map pixel-to-pixel. Your camera is specifying 72 ppi because that's the nominal resolution of a computer screen.

Day 8

07/08/2007 10:56:59 PM · #403
My camera died on me during the best flower season! Fortunately I have a lot of flower pics that I can use to upload so I should be able to keep up. Just sucks that they wont be new shots. (Im so bummed!)

A little early but I'm not going to be able to stay up late tonight.
so here is Day 9

A full day of physical therapy, work, then doctor visit tomorrow ... so Day 9 is going up just a tad early.

Makes sense...I tried to increase the DPI so I could put it on DPCPrints and it reduced the size of the print to postage stamp size...LOL. I should try uploading to DPCPrints an image I have not resized down for DPC...maybe that would work.

Joining in a little late. Did not realize that I don't need macro lens for flowers. 50mm 1.4 can do decent job :)

NO!!!
You should go with manual mode and just play with the settings (mainly f-stop and shutter speed). When you are ready to shoot, press the shutter button halfway and look at your exposure setting, then make adjustments before you shoot. If it's too dark, then select a longer shutter speed or a lower f-stop. If it's too light, vice versa.
Trust me, it's the only way you can learn and get better.

Thanks for the tip. I will keep trying. I took many hundreds of images this week with disappointing results. Main issue was focus.

Incredible flower. Color seems off in the green/cyan range. Does this variant look closer to correct?

Bear, that is great! What did you do?

Selective color adjustment layer, adjusted the color profiles in the white range, merged into BG. Duplicated BG layer, used "apply image" in the soft light mode for more luminosity/intensity.
