BIG HUG :)
Sometimes those companies have the camera manuals online in PDFs.

Thanks Ursula...I found the PDF file and printed it out. Spent many hours reading it and trying to make sense of it. Took lots of test pictures in my yard as I changed the settings and thought I had it dialed in. I did learn a good exposure lesson today though from using the bracketing function. It took 3 pic's at different exposure settings. I'm not going to give up on learning the manual way but I am going to take the image in auto mode as well...just to be safe :)

I started playing with your picture:

Got this. Eh.

OK, so I tallied my comments and the consensus is I should stop playing with borders ;-) At least on today's shot. So I will re-do it tomorrow for comparison and post it along with my day 7 shot, and TRY to get caught up on commenting. This is one busy side challenge!

I agree, people need to realize that what they get in a comment is just ONE persons opinion. Everyone has them and not everyone agrees with them! It is up to you if you take the comment to heart, use it effectively, or ignore it all together. It is, in the end, what you do that pleases you that matters the most!

I give my comments, if you like it or not, the way "I" see it. If you don't like my comments send me a pm POLITELY saying please remove my name from your list of comments and I will do my best to avoid commenting on your images. I had quit commenting a while back because of rude replies. Thats not fair to anyone.

WOW! What a difference. I don't mind AT ALL! Play to your hearts content!
Would be an interesting side challenge to have people edit one of our images. Might be fun to see the different "takes" on the original image.

Day 7 - Took this one at the dentist's office while I was waiting for my daughter to be worked on. The lady at the desk was great and let me move them around the office so I could change the background and lighting. One of my very few indoor shots as I don't have much experience with indoor lighting techniques...yet.
Very little edit on this...a smidgeon of saturation and sharpening...applied the soft focus and resized for DPC.

Day 7. Day 7 V2. Day 7 V3.
Another bristly, hairy little roadside attraction. This one is called a Pincusion (not the latin name), accordin to the little sign posted by the botanical garden+. Any comments, including critical ones, are welcome--I will never take offense at a comment,

[ edit ] Thanks for the comments! Here are a couple of other crop choices. I like the oof coneflower in the BG because of the whimsicality. "D

Don't let the "Border Patrol" get you down.

I don't!......8>) They keep hammerin' away at me, and I keep ignoring 'em!

I think the thing I like most of all about the side projects is that they are a 30 day intensive training on a subject for me. I just finished up one that I had taken pictures of windows, especially old, interesting windows, and developed what is a knack I seem to have for that genre.

I'm really pleased with how this flower project is teaching me and showing me all kinds of ways and styles.

I already have learned a thing or two.

BTW, the border's for MaryO
