Wishful thinking, but I doubt it. The thing about last year's joke is that EVERYBODY took a beating. I don't think the admins would pull the rug out from under someone who thought he or she had a high score. |

I agree that it seems beyond cruel, but how else to explain your pattern of comments vs score, Artyste's similar experience, my middlin' comments but higher score, and many (but not all) of the other anomolies?

Just a coincidence. Either that, or the admins have decided to smite a few of us. FWIW, you're one of the commenters who liked the shot- thanks!

Perhaps, the April Fool's joke this year is that when people give a 10 it gets recorded as a 1. So the more 10's you get the lower your score goes! |

I can tell you that my very first vote was an 8. (1 vote, Avg = 8) And he also left a comment saying he thought it was a great shot.
So I seriously doubt he gave me a 2 on it and stated a great shot, meanwhile DPC flipped my score to an 8. Nice theory though. =P |

Yeah, I give up on my theory. It was good while it lasted (nearly 10 minutes!)

Which is exactly why I like this site. =) You'll never be able to please everyone and not everyone will like or even think your shot is decent. But at least you have the chance to find out why, or how to appeal to a broader audience.
I look at it like this: $25 for a years worth of commentary, advice, creativity, challenging entertainment. Cost me $8 a person to see a movie for 2 hours =/ Thats not including popcorn! |

I think some people recognize your work and have decided to take some drastic measures to make sure you don't appear anywhere close to the front page.
I am having a rather odd experience too. Got 30 comments already, suggesting they all love it (a record for me), but the score isn't that impressive. |

I am so annoyed.. i just checked my comments and saw this..
what is this??????? come on??? not good a 1..
I do not understand this at all, no explaination as to why i got a 1.. and the person who gave it to me has never submitted a photo but has been a registered user for quite a while.. really i can understand a person giving me a 4 even a 3 but a 1? I only give 1's if the photo is horribly taken and pretty much non visable I honestly think this is someone who is attempting to bring down scores they might have thought would do well;...well they picked the wrong person i've been stuck at a 4 - 4.5 the whole challenge...

congrats justin, it certainly looks as if your going to get the blue ribbon, i can't wait to see who gets the ribbons, i can't beleive my score, i have nearly 400 hits and over 250 ratings and 10 excellent comments, and i am jumping all over the place between 6 and 5.7.... i just don't understand it, being new it will probably take me while to understand i suppose.....
