Crotch-kicks aren't fantastic...they are quite painful...but I do admit that they are fun to watch as long as it is from a kick-safe distance. Now, the wild monkeys you describe do sound quite fantastic...and if you could somehow get them involved in the crotch-kicking, I'd be all for that.

Oh, and my shot is in the toilet...figuratively...I know that toilets are often white and I didn't want anyone to think that I was giving away details of my shot.

Just my luck. Well, unless everyone else rates like you, I can live with missing a ten on a toilet.

Most important when dealing with toilets is that you don't miss with a number 2....

I aim to please.

And speaking of aim....be careful with that number 1.

Note:Toilet reference regarding missing with a number 2.

I'm at 4.2 and I got a comment from some guy that never enters challenges saying that he's giving me a one because he's against alcohol.

That and cigarettes seem to go over bad here.

21 comments, wow, mostly good, so I think voters loved it or hated it. The comments are more valuable to me anyway than a higher score.

Just wonderring is there anybody over 6.0 or close to 7.0? Will it be low score challenge? Or do people with high score hide themselves?

In general, few higher-scoring photographers post their results to this sort of thread, presumably for one of two reasons; 1. The "best" photographers don't bother with these threads, or; 2. It looks like "bragging"...

3 of the 4 comments are good ones..but the bad comment said my photo was 1 total color and it WAS NOT WHITE! But.. the other 3 comments where that the color looked great, the lighting was good, and a great take on the challenge. I think the "one-off" commentor should maybe check their monitor for a color check. IMO

i think that is just stupid! i hate bugs but if it's a good photo i wouldnt give it a bad score..i'm not religious but i wouldnt down a photo because of it..they need to wake up, it's 2005..don't discriminate against a photo just because you dont agree with its contents.

OK I am getting hammered and I thought I would that is fine BUT the challenge clearly states that the (background of you subject) has to be white...........(It does not say that your entire background has to be white) or that only your subject and its background can be I the picture. .............so for all of you who chose on your own to put only a white solid background and are low balling everything that does not have a solid white background should keep this in mind. Also a solid white background has no referance and no way of telling if it is real. This is My take on what is going on....I think it is simple enough..

My background is snow (can't get much whiter than snow)- but, my image is b&w. So, I'm getting scored low for that. The pic just looked better in b&w, I don't feel I cheated in any way by doing that. I really only took out 1 color by using b&w. So, it's always a matter of opinion, no matter what.

I think here is the problem, doesnt appear this is the only one that didnt fully read the challenge.

**holdingtime**OK I am getting hammered and I thought I would that is fine BUT the challenge clearly states that the (background of you subject) has to be predomently white...........(It does not say that your entire background has to be white)

Challenge discription:
Take a photo in which the background is white and the subject is predominately a "light" color. Be mindful of over-exposing your highlights

I wouldn't worry too much about it, my picture also features alot of snow and commentators tell me it has too much color. With this many voters you will not please everybody and the same shot can get ripped for having too much or not enough of the same thing. Snow in daylight, just not white enough, sigh.

In the next challenge "surreal", will we get juged on if the subject is really "surreal" of if it could be real? lol :)
03/04/2005 01:16:24 PM · #175
I've noticed a lot of people complaining about scoring low-interesting thing to look up...their average scoring as a voter-it is funny how in voting people don't mind if their overall average is below 5, but look at getting such a mark as being "low".
