I never actually took notice to that... I wonder if it's accurate. I rarely vote below a 4 and liberally give out 7/8's. I usually only give 2 or 3 pictures per challenge a 10 though. I'm actually not complaining... this picture is doing better than any other I've submitted.

I've noticed a lot of people complaining about scoring low-interesting thing to look up...their average scoring as a voter-it is funny how in voting people don't mind if their overall average is below 5, but look at getting such a mark as being "low".

OK I give, should have know better, just wanted people to look at the artistic and creativity people have in taking what could be a relitively simple Idea and running with it. Who would figur that (artistic people)would be so literal in there juging of others. When we are confined to what is said we are confined to someone elses Idea of art.

Guess this means dont be artistic in your thoughts....

""aceflyman""(I think here is the problem, doesnt appear this is the only one that didnt fully read the challenge.)

**holdingtime**OK I am getting hammered and I thought I would that is fine BUT the challenge clearly states that the (background of you subject) has to be predomently white...........(It does not say that your entire background has to be white)

Challenge discription:
Take a photo in which the background is white and the subject is predominately a "light" color. Be mindful of over-exposing your highlights

My first post, hope I'm doing this right. My first photo post after observing for several months. HUGE number of submissions. So many of you be-moaning your scores. Getting a 3.9 so far for my pooch on couch. When is rim-light too much? And why such brutal scoring?? Not about to give up and set things ablaze ;) , but geeze, that's like an F- !

You are probably giving out a lot more low scores then you realize, your average vote cast is 4.2, which says that you are giving out a lot of vots below a 4, or least close to as many as you are give above a 4.

I don’t mean to attack you voting, in the end it does not matter where average each person votes but I just want to point out you are not voting like you think you are.

You shouldn't be indentifying your picture like this until the voting ends...

holdingtime; not at all, many variations and interpretations of white. Actually I'm enjoying this challenge because of all the interpretations.
If you see may profile, I'm outside the box most of the time. Didnt mean a personal attack on you, just noted the background should be white. My little interprettions is solid tone. It could be bright, soft, blown, tinted. When you have this much discussion on a subject, you know the artist side came out of us all. From taking the shot, to voting on the shot. Good Luck !.....Joe

Oops, sorry, just came to that understanding after posting the note, and thought voting was over. What time in what time-zone does voting and submissions end? Am new to this chat forum as of 60 min ago. Started reading at the beginning, thinking it was the end.
Won't happen again.
I would still love some replies, thanx : )

255 votes, and my entry is still sitting at precisely 5.000.....bizarre.

I guess it's equally good and bad.

After a couple of days ignoring the update button I've climbed from a low of 4.3 to the dizzy heights of 5.2 - thats amazing!

I seriously don't think they meant it had to be color..I think they meant light in color as light in shade(not dark). That is how I perceived it. I don't think you should be voting anyone low for not having color in there photo when it could be easily taken both ways.

It almost automatically gives you whites, lights and brights...in some or most cases.

Opinions?

I had a problem with that also. I will probably get slammed for saying this but I voted all black and whites low. A picture of a person in front of a white background turned into B/W is not meeting the challenge to me. And I am not singling anybody out here. They didn't in my eyes meet the challenge by taking a shot that is not normally a light colored object or a white background. I thought it was all about experimenting and learning from these challenges. This is something I haven't tried and honestly gave it my best shot to not over expose my highlights. Which I feel I accomplished

Edited for bad wording that people misunderstood.

You're beating me, Lisa! I thought I had a decent shot, but I guess it's just too boring and plain for the voters. I like it though. :o)

I'm slowly learning that if you like the shot its worth more than a high dpc score. Its good to please the voters but even better to please yourself :)

Yah, but why enter it in a challenge then? You want the high votes and that means the voters need to like it too, so if you are putting your picture in a challenge you not only need to shoot for yourself but for the voters too. hmm..make sense?
Not wanting to argue just stating my opinion.

Good subject, bad results! Oh well, I am getting killed in AA too. I was on a roll for a while.
I had more views on this than my last few combined? And I actually thought that it would get me a 6. Great shots in this challenge though, and it seems to be getting tougher. Good luck all! B

I always read about an Update Button. Where is it? Is it about the refresh button of the web browser or is there a feature only for members? Light me up, pls.
