I worked hard on mine, tried to do a mundane subject differently, and its sitting at 4.3, my very mundane 70s shot which took not more than3 mins did much better.Oh well theres no explaining taste here!!!!

121 votes and not a single comment...hovering around 4.8.

Disappointing.

Started out decent..then after 2 additional votes dropped tremendously! So..I decided not to look till voting is over :)

I started last night with 12 votes and a 6.45
Where did all of the voters come from giving really bad scores?
03/02/2005 02:14:03 PM · #81
Seriously.

Doesn't having a sub-5 score indicate that people think there is more bad about your picture than there is good?

I certainly don't claim that mine is the best one....but geez....it meets the challenge and is appealing to look at. If you're going to vote it low...at least tell me why.

WhooHoo!! Got my first ever validation request!! Just sent in the original, fingers xx'd.

Am over the moon, sitting just over 6 with Light on White. And to keep the balance......3.8 on Passing Time!! LOL

I'm happy so far. I've been climbing slowly.

Exactly my thoughts on the sub 5 votes.
When i vote, 5 is average isnt it?
I would think that if you think my picture is Sub-average, atleast tell me why you think so.

Hope it turns out ok for you Sue ;) If I get a validation request I'm going to be thinking long and hard as to whether I 'find' the original. At lunchtime it had dropped to 4.3, thats when I stopped looking. I think its a good photo, guess it was for the wrong challenge?

Ahhhh, I remember the days when my Avg. vote recieved was hovering around 5.6 - 5.7. Those were the good 'ol days ... I'll be lucky if it doesn't drop down to 5.0 after this one....

It's light, on a white background (granted not bright, blaring white), focused sharply (for once) maybe a little on the dull side but well composed in my eyes ... yet I keep slippin' into oblivion. Whatya gonna do, sounds like that's the case with most everyone else whose scores are dipping so I don't feel so bad. In fact I'm obliged to be in such good company ... Three cheers to the "middle of the packers" HIP HIP ... oh who cares. ;-P

Maybe people are starting to feel or shift to the Light comes in more shades than Bright camp. Light is Light...Right?

Maybe there's hope for a 5.

I had one comment that I had a perfect subject and the next comment was the photo didn't meet the challenge. But I did have 5 comments which is great.
Overall I am disappointed with my score; I was thinking it should be in the 6 range.

At least it is taking my mind off my poor showing in the Passing Time challenge.....

I guess for my first try this isn't too bad. I still haven't had any comments though so I don't have a clue what people liked or disliked. Oh well it is a long week, hoping to stay in the 5's.

I don't know what's going on, it's a good picture. Just a bit ago I was at 5.537. Seriously, if you're going to leave a terrible score, tell someone why. If you leave a 10, tell us why. Sometime's I think people don't even look at the pictures. I also love how on open challenges your score is like 3 points under what it would be in a member challenge.

Just blazed through the voting process. I am now going to take a second look and will comment on the ones I like or the ones that could use a little commenting. Not going to bother with the few that seem they don't care if they met the challenge or not. I hate to be mean but it looks as if my voting curve has changed in the recent weeks. Now it is time to go be harsh or maybe helpful. I don't think I have ever seen so many eggs before though. Kinda tired of looking at them.

Ok commented on about six or so. I will comment on more tomorrow.

Geez... Mine was going up and down all day. I can't believe it's back (again) to 4.4444 LOL

I just went through all my votes again and bumped a bunch up higher. :)
Now to go back and start commenting.

I took the color out of mine because it looked about the same in color, so I figured why not. Not much color in my shot in the first place, just white on white and some clear.

It almost automatically gives you whites, lights and brights...in some or most cases.

Opinions?

I had a problem with that also. I will probably get slammed for saying this but I voted all black and whites low. A picture of a person in front of a white background turned into B/W is not meeting the challenge to me. And I am not singling anybody out here. They didn't in my eyes meet the challenge by taking a shot that is not normally a light colored object or a white background. I thought it was all about experimenting and learning from these challenges. This is something I haven't tried and honestly gave it my best shot to not over expose my highlights. Which I feel I accomplished

Edited for bad wording that people misunderstood.

Why nevermind. I feel that was a good opinion.

well that sucks that I did that then, it looks the same with color. I didn't think that small choice on taking out the color that was barely there in the first place would make my score lower than it really should be.

I'm not slamming you .. but the challenge is "Light on White".

How does a LIGHT colored object in front of (on), a WHITE background, not meet the challenge? lol.

The one comment I got said what a good photo it was. I too on this one do not understand what they do not like. It is not a ribbon photo but I thought it should be in the solid 5's
