I was wondering, have you ever taken a picture that was different, special and YOU loved it, but most other people hated it? Wana share? hehehe I have a pic in one of the competition that I love but most people don't like it! I thought I'd get really upset with the low score (whitch I kind of expected) but I got ONE comment that got the picture, looked a few times and wondered...so I feel the low score was worth it :P
Does anyone out there have a picture like that? a pic that you feel people really have to study and view a few times to understand? That YOU (and maybe you alone) think has emotion?
Just wondering :P :) |

This happens all the time to me. Pretty much, I never submit unless I like the image myself and many times has it scored low as it was not generally appealing.
Such shots include but are not limited to:
And these are just challenge images! But however...don't let this get you down! Just keep submitting what you like despite what these crazy voters think. I am having the same problem in one of the current challenges as well, and although it is still frustrating, I am still okay with the shot because I like it and that's what ultimately matters to me.
Good luck..

tranquil I love your first picture! :) the others are great to, I love the focus shining from the boys eyes when he throws the ball and the sadness of the girl holding her face, reminds me of an anti bullying slogan...!
Danny, sorry about your wife, really touching picture, colors are wonderfull and I just love it:) The reflection of the angel turns out great! And sorry about your wife, she sounds like a wonderfull person! |

This shoe would fit many of my shots. Here are a few I'm quite fond of, while no one else seems to.

Danny, that photograph has to be one of your prized possessions. I know you're one of the "better" photogs here (with a 6+ avg vote), but, ya know, photography's all about images and memories... The "score" is trivial. Cherish that memory (as I'm sure you do).

A few of mine that I think evoke an emotion (maybe they do, maybe they don't, just my take on them):

I've never understood why some folks don't seem to like this shot, I was really pleased with it at the time, which I have learnt means nothing, but what gets me is that I still really like it now.
That said, there are a fair few shots of mine that i thought no-one would like that a few people really do, so I'm certainly not complaining.

No one has even seen this yet. Thought this would be a good place to show it. Like the title of this thread says, it is "my photograph".

Got hammered for the religion thing.
Didn't quite achieve the effect I was looking for, but still.
Under 5, but with two favorites :o) |

My sincerest condolences Danny. I had no idea.
I have Angel in wmf video and was listening to it this morning and remembered your post.
I've always loved that song, but this time when I heard it, I got pretty choked up.
Regards,
Brad

I have taken and created MANY photos that others don't like but I'm living by the rule that you can't please everyone so please yourself. If you only shoot what others like you won't like your job and then whats the use of doing it? |

I got hammered for this one, probably because it's "just" a statue. I was attracted to it because I passed this bare stone pig every day for years until, the week of the Something New challenge, the owner put this hat on it. Yeah, I know- DOF and harsh light, but 4.665? Ouch.
Apparently, folks couldn't find anything out of place on this shot. People! Get a bookshelf! |
