This was just a rehearsal for photos I was going to take the next day, but I couldn't better this one which was taken using 2 very low powered lamps with a one second exposure.
This one works on many levels for me... on the superficial level it displays 2 things I love deeply in life! On a deeper level, I have used this photo to examine the link between sublimated sexuality and music, especially the music of the blues which I think is implied by this model of guitar. The guitar is historically quite a 'masculine' instrument, and it's juxtaposition here with an objectified female torso gives a masculine sexuality to this photo. That's how I feel about this photo, anyway... my other half doesn't see any of that when she looks at it, so it will be interesting to see what the DPC crowd think. I feel very brave about this photo, as no NeatImage has been used on it, which is pretty rare for me!

I definitely see why you like this, it's very well composed and seen. I think the duotone could grow on me, but to me, it's a bit weaker than if it had been a tritone, with some true whites to provide better contrast.

But it's a very strong photo and one you should be very happy with.

I didn't tick Konador's comment below, as the title I chose for this photo was supposed to have a certain irony to it... traditionally you say 'sweet dreams' to children before they go to sleep and dream of nice fluffy things, this picture has more of an edge to it!
I think this irony may have been lost on many people.
I understand that the red was not for everyone, but I find the colour quite 'primal', and Dr. Jones' comment realised a little of my intention when he said it had a peep-show element to it. That wasn't quite what I was aiming for, but I do think that this deep red has a certain link to an instinctive animal sexuality... or at least that's what I was aiming for.
I'll never figure out DPC though, I thought this would get a higher score than 5.2, but I really like my shot and stand by it.

Hi Bob
Just saw your "Sweet Dreams" and am pulled in similar directions. Is that an Epiphone Casino? The guitar is a kind of masculine object as you state but has feminine curves. The flatness of the light gives an interesting effect in that the guitar looks out of scale ( no pun intended). Tell me, what is NeatImage?
Thanks

I really like the effect that you have gone for here. My only criticism is that your model fades into the back ground a little too much. I would of liked to of seen the outline of her body just a bit more highlighted.

The guitar, I am jealous of...

I don't understand how the instrument, the nude and the title all fit together. The nude seems like an afterthought here.

does not really work for me, don't understand the connection with the guitar (shape of female body, shape of guitar maybe ?), red color is overwhelming and body blends into the background.

Very cool and pop-esq, but don;t like the red cast maybe a little less red or a darker red would suffice.

Apart from that, a very grand picture.

Not sure of what you are trying to convey here. The guitar seeems superfluous.

I'm not too crazy about the red hue used here.

Whilst I can see that the strong use of colour may be related to the dream theme I find it somewhat offputting and would be interested to see this without the red. I like the image itself, it's a really interesting content with only a small section of the body floating at the top and the guitar shoved to the fore - it feels like there could be a story behind it.

Nice use of red color; gives a peep-show feel to the image. nice composition. nice pose of the model. I wonder if the shot had been better by moving in the camera closer to the guitar to have the strings come directly at the viewer? very well done. 6

I think for a dream a nice pale blue colour would have been more appropriate than this red, which I think detracts from the photo.
