thrumyiis - The balls are good. I am pleased you figured out the patterning problem of your cloning. Don't worry about mistakes as that is often how we learn about other things that are available to us. As for your rainbow...it appears you and using a hard edge brush...always use a soft edge brush as this will give your a better blending effect. Your BW painting is very nicely done. You have more skill then you realise.

Maggye - The twists and bends are fascinating...try and reduce the size of some of them. If you look at my final result I had all the frames overlap the character. Whilst it doesn't need to be the same as my final result....the frames do need to be aiming towards the main character. Leave some of them large but reduce the others down. Ahhhhh...I just now saw your second attempt....yesssss..much better!!!

amnon - You need to use the distort tool to twist and bend the frames so they overlap parts of the main character.

jesusfreak864ever - You're in!

Minor adjustments to make some of the frames a bit smaller.

Is it too late to jump on board?

Maggye - Yup...that looks good...the main center frame is going to look good when we mask the top of it so the top looks like it is behind him.

imagesbytlp - Sure, j7ump straight in.

HI Judi a huge thanks for doing all of this for us and sharing your knowledge.
My attempt at adding the frames.

I have a request.
Can you give us some tips how to use the "select color range" tool?
For me the hardest part is making good selections to be able to cut out objects like your boy.
I've never seen the select color range tool before, and have only used the quick selection tool and magic wand.

Thanks again for the help.

I will try to do up a tutorial for you tomorrow. Your image looks good except for the 4th frame from the bottom. Because of your distortion the frame is very soft and distracting. Try reducing the size to just go around a limb so it isn't as noticeable.

Hope this one is better.

Shanny403 - it looks good but the large front on frame may cause you difficulty later trying to make it blend...you are better off having it on a slight angle and not so big.

dianapf1 You have done similiar to Shanny with the large front on frame, but yours can easily overlap to the back later.

Hi Judi, I was wondering if I should start working on the frames.
05/17/2011 02:07:40 AM · #219
For the ones who have done the frames now you can start working on the masking of them. Start by turning all the frame visibilities off except for the bottom one and if you haven't already apply the mask that is on it. This will eliminate everything except the frame. Now add another mask and zoom in to the frame and mask out with your black brush, the part of the frame that should be hidden behind the boy. Then one by one repeat this for each of the other frame layers. Show me when you are done.

Does this look ok?
05/17/2011 05:49:13 AM · #221
Maggye - It sure does. Now you need to darken the areas behind the frames where they would cause a slight shadow on the boy or on the frames. So some burn or levels.
