lobrin - Looks good. Although you have dropped a frame over the bottom edge which may make it difficult to place the ladder which will be soon. Try redoing that frame so no frame escapes the edges of the image. Also when posting your images in a thread please try to use the thumbnail link (second icon from the right above your post reply box). It makes the image clickable and so much easier.
reneekerr - You are in.
dianapf1 - That looks interesting. Although you have quite a few face on, it should be ok as you have ensure they are overlapping other frames and limbs.
amnon - You have allowed a frame to escape the image at the top, can you fix this frame and find the missing 4 frames...lol!!! I don't mind if you don't use them all...but you have small characters to place yet and they don't like being crowded onto one frame.

amnon - That looks better. Now start work on the masking out of the overlap areas and darkening behind the overlap where there would be a shadow.

I wasn't sure how to do the shadows, so this is my first attempt. Is it too subtle? |

Maggye - Your shadows could do with some more work but I need you to look at the two frames that hit the top of his arms. Move them up more and redo that masking as there are wedges out of his arm because of the frame layout.

Hi Judi here are my attempts at masking and shading the frames where i thought there should be shade.
Shading was a harder job than i thought it would be.
Thank you for the tutorial on selecting color range, i will give that ago in the next few days.
Cheers

Judi,
I am working on the shadows, but am having a hard time keeping the lines straight. If I put something with a straight edge on the desk and drag my mouse along the outside edge the cursor still drags to the left. So the problem is either user error or the mouse. Is there a tool to help with dragging the cursor straight across or down?
Thanks, |

Something is wrong with Photoshop, when I use [ ] to change the size of my brushes it doesn't work anymore, instead it changes the opacity of the brush... Does anybody knows how can I change this?
hehe, never mind, it was another programm doing this, I had to uninstall it.

Lad - The frames are in an interesting layout...I will be keen to see the final result. LOL!!
dianapf1 - Try holding Shift down when you do it. I know it works with some tools...so try it!
Maggye - LOL...I'm glad you found the problem. Most people have issues with the brush circle suddenly becoming a cross....if that happens to any of you....just take the keyboard off caps lock!!!

Judi,
I'm receiving the same error message for the images in Lesson 2. Could you please email these to me as well?
I was able to download the 16 'I've been framed' images.
Thanks,
bcnu

"We are now going to add a Border. There are a few ways we can do this. But I am going to show you a
way that gives you much more flexibility, especially in changing the border colours without having to
undo your steps."
Can we use this on DPC advanced editing challenge entries? |

dianapf1 - I believe you can in Advanced Editing but I will check with SC because of the increase in canvas size.
hihosilver - LOL...In your own time girl!

OK, thanks,
Here is what I've done with the shadows so far:
Not sure if they look real or not or what I might need to do to fix them. It's hard to decide where to place the shadows.

dianapf1 - That looks good but darken the shadows behind the legs a bit more.

Really appreciate your taking to time to help noobs out! I would love to work through your lessons, but can't access the pictures (ERROR: You don't have permission to access /dpctutoring/lessons/cat.jpg on this server.) Do I need to be added to your list to access the photos? |

Ok Im still stuck back at the start of lesson 3. I have been trying to figure it out for a week but cant get it. I'm sorry but this is my introduction to photoshop, I know absolutely nothing.(but in between all of this Im trying to learn the basics from books.) So I'm not understanding how I'm to "cut out the figure". Ive been going around it with the magnetic lasoo but I just cant figure out the select/colour range and what im supposed to do with it.? I invert the image and press the mask icon and it looks like your silhouette image in my layer pallet. But apart from that the main image all looks the same?? Could you PLEASE help me further, Judi. Many many thanks.. |
