Hmm how should I put this!
Lets look at the numbers not the other pictures in the competition.
Avg (all users): 6.608
This picture should have been 7 or 8 at least.
Reason: Some probably have voted it down thinking it was not neon.

Not very much.. that is true.
I think what the problem is is that people are most likely a little bored of photographs of children being used for themes like "future". Too cliche? Just this feeling I get... |

I totally agree with Siggi, even a blue ribbon photo is underrated in some people's opinion. I think many people didn't read the details good enough for the neon challenge, both the people who submitted photos into the challenge and also the voters, there were just to many neon signs in it. Some people were creative, didn't just take a snapshot of a neon sign and one of them was ScantyNebula with her high quality creative photograph that conveys the theme perfectly imo with its bright pink color. I gave it a 9, so imo it's very much underrated with 6.608, I haven't given out any 10 yet here on dpc, this is one of few that have got 9 from me and is one of my favourit photos here on dpc. Ofcourse all of the photos of neon signs in the challenge are not bad, some of them are creative and very good, but most of them are not very good. Ofcourse there are different opinions, and I highly respect that.

I have to admit that I entirely messed up on this one during voting.. I gave it a 5, and for the *LIFE* of me, I can't remember why. I can only plead insanity after wading through 200 pictures of signs.. and then not having the time to go back and really take a look at what I'd voted and change the few that got lower than they deserved. Because, looking at this shot now.. it would probably get a 7 or an 8 from me now. |
