I didn't get a comment, but my score is way, way lower than I could ever have imagined a score for such a shot to be. I'm not one of these people that sit and lament about voting by any means. I think my short history here has proven that, but even I'm simply shocked and dumbfounded by the score this time, and not just on my photo, but man, there's a lot of talk about sub 5 scores from people that usually do much, much better.
If it's because of a description on a Free Study that is confusing people...
If it has to conform to a theme, it's not a Free Study! *pinches bridge of nose*

| Chins up, folks, I haven't finished voting yet. In FS's, I generally vote with a 5-and-up scale, with a few exceptions for very small photos with date-stamps on them. So your scores should improve ever so slightly as I go. |

Those are low votes for a pretty good image. The very first vote within seconds of the start of voting was a "4". Something odd in the voting noted. |

As noted buy others, it looks like early voting is lower than usual. My score is coming in lower than expected too.
Usually the free study score thread has a lot more entries about scores in the six or seven range. To my eye, there are multiple images deserving of such scores. Low scores can be discouraging. Worse, it is possible that receiving low scores could sway some entrants to vote lower than they might otherwise. Funny thing is, a lot of the interest and voiting in a free study is from people who entered the challenge. Unfortunately, giving low scores in reaction to receiving low scores could perpetuate and worsenes the cycle. (Of course, that is speculation unsupported by evidence.)
On the other hand, there is a chance it could work in the other direction as well. Maybe it would help for everyone posting in this thread to make an effort to vote today or tomorrow and to vote appropriately high for deserving images. Higher scores don't cost anything. Let's break out of the slump together. |

First look at the votes this AM was 4.84 and now 5.12
Like many others I am a little confused/disheartened/annoyed (delete as applicable) by the low votes. Whilst perhaps not typically DPC I was sure my shot was better than that. Strange?
Surely people don't think its and 'April Fools' theme in a free study. Confused! |
