Cactus flower -- if anyone knows the name of this (horticulturally) commonly-used cactus I'd apppreciate it.

It might be Trichocereus spachianus.

I have the same plant growing in my yard but never knew what kind it was. It didn't flower this year, but the flowers are spectacular. I'll have to look for some old pictures of it. I think the buds are very cool too.

these were the shots a took to enter into the "purple" challenge but ended up submitting one to "doors" instead. the cropped one would've been the one i used. if you're inclined to, feel free to comment on it and say what you wouldve voted if it were entered.

| Does anyone know of a flower website where you can put in the colors, region, etc and search for a flower names? I have surfed for an hour and still can't find a good site. Thanks! |

Thanks but that requires some knowledge of botany, and I have none... I'm lucky to know what a stamen is LOL
I was thinking a site set up the same way as this one, but like color of petals, number of petals; more or less than 5, stamen yes or no, seeds yes or no, long or short stem, ground or tall plant, etc... and submit for a list of potential flowers. If this is not out that, it should be! :)
