haha, I forget to tell its story...

I love this shot. I love bw photos but usually suck at them. I have my whole bath house series of photos hanging on my walls. I love looking at them. This one really strikes me though, I love the textures on the wall, I like the tiles on the tub...etc... and just knowing that the tub has been there for more than a hundred years is amazing.

This was taken with my D70 and my 18-70 lens. It was the first time I got up before the sun to take some pics. It was taken from Beausoleil Island on Georgian Bay while camping for the first time with Jenny my wife. It is also the first print I ordered for myself. I have a 20x30 print of it framed and matted in my living room. My sister also has a copy. My parents have this print that was taken not five minutes later.

Yea, yea, yea...I know sappy flower shot. This was the most perfect morning to shoot columbines. There is about a two week window where you get the fresh flowers, the early season ones are usually the best for photographic purposes (IMO). You also have to hit the weather just right. If the monsoons come in too soon they pound the heck out of the blooms, but if its too dry and hot the blooms form and crinkle within a couple of days. This morning was the best day I ever had shooting columbines. I must have 90-100 frames from this day. Edit to add... This was also amazing light that morning. Just a hint of overcast to soften the light up. I haven't had as good a day to shoot since.

Of course I have to really fight the urge to put six shots up here.

I keep coming back to this one. But it's nearly a tie with a couple of others.

I have a few flower shots that I really like, but this one from recently has a little something extra.

I just really like this picture. It's either a "you had to be there" kinda thing, or there's something about the people of Afghanistan that's hard to put your finger on.

For me it's this one, although I don't know the girl in the picture (just a model for the day). The reason is because I KNEW what the image was going to look like BEFORE I took the picture and setting up the light, brolly & reflector was deliberate with what I was after in the image.

My acronym entry from Feb 25, 2007 NASDAQ because I thought long and hard about what to shoot and even played around with lighting. I remember "feeling" like a photographer too. After the challenge, this little fella went on to be a PB and remains on my profile page.
Taken with my Sony F828 - but I am getting better with the Canon XTi :)

I am trying my hands on people photography recently. So, I consider this to be my favorite (actually one of my favs) people shot.

This was shot in 2006, I was still new to competition web sites. It was a long year, of never getting any front-page notice & not being able to figure out why. I feel so much older/wiser now. This August, it is too hot to do anything but sit at the computer, so I am going back over the flower shots of 2006 & post-processing some of my favorites, trying to re-build my damaged ego. I did this one last night at about 1am & although I have always liked this particular shot, for me it's the post-processing that makes me smile. But then, my favorite is usually the last one I worked on. "D

This is one of my favourites because it's my favourite subject, and because it's exactly the kind of photograph I like taking. If you are visually inclined (you should be!!) it says much about my personality.

I like this one because it is different. I like what I see through a marble because it looks like a little world.
My daughter's lips give it an added twist.

This is the internet, you can't take anything back. Personally I give you credit for posting your "second best" image, and not sneaking in your favorite image at the same time. For this I salute you. :)

Portfolio, not a challenge shot. It was before I learned masking and did all of the background replacement with selection. Arrrgh. Shot on a cold January day in Arizona with bad background and even worse light. But it toned nicely anyway. I've been shooting the subject since '99 first with my .8 mpix Olympus digicam.

Thought maybe something else would have supplanted it by now, but it's still my personal favorite. :)
