I just shoot in color (sometimes in b&w but mostly in color) then I just desaturate the image in most cases (as in this) and use only sharpening after. I think white balance here was set to cloudy. If the wb is set correctly in color then it is correct in b&w, I think. I may also don't understand fully your question because I've never shot in film.

Mount Woodson is on the right in the distance. It is partially in Ramona, and partially in Poway ( brad territory). There was some very bright sunshine streaming through some clearing storm clouds. |
