B & W a week for '08 - Posting Thread

This is the first shot I have ever taken in my life that I intended it to be B&W right out of the gate and that I knew what I was going to do to it to get the result that I have here......

This young woman's face completely enchanted me the very first time I saw it and I am just thrilled to try and capture the essence of this (IMO) classic face every time I see her.

Since she cuts my hair and is a good sport, I get to do this every six to eight weeks.......8>)

Finally got some time to PP some pics. I've got to go away on business next week, so I'll be late again - but I'll be taking the camera with me. I have a lot of commenting to catch up on - I'll get to it eventually.

I know I just posted one last night, but I took this one a couple days ago and have been working on it on and off since. I have taken about a hundred shots of this place and just can't get it exactly like I want to portray it as it just captivates me with the way it's located out in the woods. So this is a decent, but not perfect effort at this lost farmstead as it deteriorates into the woods. I only have five shots posted up so far for six or seven weeks so I hope y'all will indulge me.

Week #4

Here is an example of History that you can reach out and touch, walk around, look at from every angle, and truly enjoy! The commerce of yesteryear before semi-tractor-trailers increased production and reduced personal interaction.

Being an artist, I like to go to restaurants and stores, like Parisian, where the customer is not just a number, and their pay is based on how many "head of cattle" the clerk can "run through his/her shute" every day. I will most definitely pay more just to have someone take time with me.

Some people fuss if their food isn't sitting on the table five minutes after they sit down. I'm tempted to fuss if it is, "What? You don't think I'm worth more of your time than to just barely warm both sides of a piece of meat? Take it back and do the job right this time! My Momma couldn't cook a good meal in five minutes, and you can't either. Now treat me like I'm important!"

Sorry for my "soap box," but I get a little aggrevated these days with people who think I'm slow, "Get a move on, Dude! Or you'll get left!" When I hear that I know that I'm talking to somebody who if "just a few fries short of a Happy Meal!"

Today's "Fast-Paced Society" is merely a thick layer of propaganda! It's only fast-paced, if you let it be! Slow down! Plan your work! Work your Plan! Work from home if you have to in order to "keep pace," but prioritize the family...because kids grow up so fast!

There! That's my sermonette for the day, but hopefully somebody out there "feels my pain," and knows that we must never allow the World to squeeze us into its mold! Thanks for "giving me your precious time to listen" to one of my "Hot Buttons!" :)
