I am soooooooo in!!! LOL!!!

I would just like to state for the record that I *KNEW* I was finally gonna break 6.0 in this Free Study 'cause I had TWO slammin' entries, and I started out at 5.0 after 18 entries!

I have yet to break 6.0 in a Free Study since I've been at DPC.

When is there going to be a side challenge for "My mom really likes my shot." My mom can not be trusted. She's let me down too many times!

I just hope I don't drop below a 5... so yeah, I definitely think my image is being under-rated and would love to participate.

I'd love to be part of this except in all of December i didn't take a single free study-worth image and didn't enter LOL. Can I be emeritus?

Curently at at 6.000, so we'll see if I'm eligible or not...

There have been a number of times where I thought an image I had submitted would do better than what I ended up with. I agree that the competition is extremely stiff on DPC for all challenges, but I don't mind entering as long as I know I'm going to get some constructive feedback. 95% of my shots barely make it to 5.5, so I'm a perfect participant for this group. Please count me in. Cheers, Sandra.

Wow - who knew the crowd would be so big! I'll eventually get all the names added to the list. And yes, Robert, I'm sure we'd all be delighted if you'd participate - FS entry or not!

Hang in there. Just because DPC doesn't love it doesn't make it a bad photograph. (I'm thinking of having that tatooed to the inside of my eyelids.)

I would suggest that those of you "flirting with 6" at the moment will be over 6 by week's end. And in my book, "flirting with 6" is doing just fine. I have one of those in another challenge and I ain't complainin' at all about that one.

I do have additional feedback this morning, and it's very valid feedback - to viewers (at least the ones who have commented) there's no point to my picture. That's fair enough. I suspect a lot of times my pictures engender that reaction. Sometimes what we choose to shoot, and how, doesn't resonate with others well. Since the vote here depends on acceptance at a general level, to an audience with a very wide background, the evil "lowest common denominator" comes into play. Hence, lovely landscapes (pretty colors and excellent composition, of course) will tend to dominate, along with well-executed extreme macros and a few other proven subjects. I do not say this is bad!! It's not. It just can get frustrating if all anyone is after is a good score. :-)

Don't forget adding a mist of water on everything except glasses...and shots of water (or other liquid) drops, especially if they are refracting another image in them.

Heh!! My mom always picks the losers, too. But we both like the same things, so I figure if she likes it, I'm good (though not scorewise!) I have to admit she wasn't overly thrilled with the one I have in now, though...

Count me in! I truly thought I had a 6 shot this time, and it's scoring under 5...LOL!
01/02/2008 11:43:21 AM · #44
can't join. I'm happy to be in high-five-land for my free study and I know exactly why it's not scoring over a 6.

If you make a thread like this for the Ice challenge, let me know!

count me in i don't think i'm gonna break a 5 and i think its a pretty clasic style shot. as a side note has anyone ever averaged everyone's score on dpc to see what it was?

You're always welcome to pitch in after the challenge with input if you wish. If someone wants to start a thread for any of the other challenges, go for it! (I'm not in any of the other challenges.)

OMG!! That very same thing happened to me! Wanting to please my mom. If I had had a moment of sanity, I probably would have seen the fatal flaws in my image, but mom said she liked it.
