Why thank you! Since you mention it, here's another one. Two shots taken on the day I got my new 5D last summer. One of my son PJ with a goofy smile, and the other of the brick on the side of my house. I stretched the brick way out, and messed around with the result. Enjoy!

BrianTammy asked how I created this and I thougt I'd just post here (I hope nobody minds)
I started with my original image and made a levels layer to brigten it a little. Then I used the channel mixer to desaturate the image but used a layer mask to erase the effect on the eyeball. Then I applied my first texture (dried, cracked mud) by making a new layer and setting it to colour burn. I used another layer mask on this layer to erase the effect from the eyeball. I then applied my second texture (a green industrial looking wall) and set it to soft light. Again I used a layer mask to remove the effect from the eyeball.
To finish off I used a new layer set to soft light and used a black paintbrush to create some vignetting around the edges and a bit here and there to enhance the already present shadows and some to dimish some bright spots. I then did a quick curves layer to enhance the contrast. Finally sharpened the image and saved for web.
*Note* Both of the texture layers have reduced opacity.
I know this is quite brief so if you have any questions please feel free to PM me. |
this is very helpful. The idea of lightening the image before blending in interesting. By adding extra layers i'm getting loss of detail and an overall lightening. I really don't understand what all the blending modes are suppose to do but as jutilda recently told me, i need to get in there and play around a little more. thanks |
