Frankly, that word annoys me. I used to think it was a type of wine. "Pour me another glass of that 1973 Bourgeois!"

Edit to add: Dang! Am I a front page hog or what??

nah you can do it in the day too...just need to close up the aperture to F22 or summin.

and like everything on DP...I'll shoot what I shoot, and if something fits I'll post it :) |

		My favorite accident:

Poked and panned, and settings were all wrong. Love it when that happens.

 On purpose:

 Slow shutter, hand held.

 Also on purpose:

Movement of the train and probably of me as well. If anyone has interesting ideas for additional post processing of this one, let me know. I just like it for all the layers (natural, not post). |

Long shutter speeds and tripods/whatever are cool.

I'm thinking more plain old blur for me and not motion blur. At least that's what I'll try to experiment with.

Although one of those Photog links had a very cool Carousel image which gave me an idea that'll include some motion blur. Might give it a go.

This is going to be so fun. I tried doing a little practice yesterday and stuck my arm over to the passenger window as I was driving by. Not a safe practice... but so interesting. ;~p

Yes! Shooting while driving - my favorite sport. I've shot homeless people that way, but was always reluctant to post anything here because of the blur-phobia. However, I find them to be most interesting, as I'm sure yours are, too. |

Something from this morning. Got up at 5:00am as usual to catch the sunrise in Brooklyn's backstreets. In my mind, this is a cheat - but I'm learning so will forgive myself. Two images shot from a tripod; one completely defocused, the other in focus but with a long shutter speed. Ap f/2.8 and f/9.0 for blurred and focused respectively. Backlit high contrast makes for more chromatic aberations. Images combined in Photoshop 6.0 (one day I might update) with "overlay" as the layer mode. I shot a few other images with blur in mind this morning and might post later.

Here is another contribution. Dawn over the East River looking towards the Williamsburg Bridge on the Lower East Side. I deliberately de-focused this shot. Minor processing with levels. Dawn can be a lovely time and humid summer days make getting out of bed early that much easier. I think blur does produce an effect like Monet produced in his paintings of the Thames. Painting - especially its lack of precision - inspires me. Painting is naturally blurred, if you like. Mind you, the 'sharp' images from the photos I took this morning are exceptional, IMO.

Very cool, I'll have to try this technique sometime.
