not sure why you felt it necessary to abuse your camera with such a shot
01/16/2007 04:58:48 AM · #252
Given an infinite amount of time a monkey could produce a better shot. You on the other hand might need a little longer.

I just spent the last half-hour or so reading this entire thread and my sides hurt! I haven't laughed this hard in ages! I'll be the first to admit the majority of my challenge entries would have inspired several of these. Having said that, here are a few to add:

"Clearly you were drunk when you took this. Unfortunately for you I'm not drunk while I'm voting on this."

"If Photoshop had the equivalent of spell check, this shot would have lit up like a Christmas tree"

"497 challenges later, and yep--you're still ugly" (or even worse):

"497 challenges later, and yep--your kid/dog/spouse is still ugly"

"Wow, I didn't know Photoshop had .crap as a 'save as' function"

"Thanks! I thought I had the worst shot in this challenge, and now I see that clearly I don't"

I'll think of more, but these will do for now... :o)

I just found this thread this morning myself, what a hoot, and though I'm a master of using four paragraphs where a simple sentence will do, what I come up with for the quintessential comment for the bad entry would be:

Just stop.......PLEASE!!!!

There are images in life that inspire - that suck the breath right out you with their beauty - and which remind you that the bitter-sweet cycles of life can sometimes be overpowed and completely over-ridden by the awe-inspiring - the majestic and the glorious - in much the same way that a tidal wave can sweep aside the lows and highs and make way for something fresh, clean and new - for a brand new day.

This, is NOT one of them! Now give me my pizza and back out the door, be*-**ch!

***I can say that because once upon a time I delivered pizzas, and took worse pictures than I do now. What a FUN thread!***

Maybe your hamster should give you some pointers on how to take a photo. ;-)

"It's been fun these past couple years watching you age. You ought to do a slide show of these."

"You would get a better photograph if you left the lens cap on."
"Nay. Nay. Nay. Oh dear God, a thousand times Nay." (One of the docs in Scrubs)
"Photographs can inspire awe, evoke anger, trigger thoughts, calm tempers and turn you on. This photograph does ... Zzzzzz."
"WTF. FFS. OMG. ALPHA BET SOUP. HS. DNMC."

This picture makes me long for the good old days... when people didn't have cameras and couldn't take crappy pictures like this.

One or three that have passed through my booze soaked brain:

1. And I thought having an enema was painful!!

2. I was having such a happy day til I looked at your effort!

3. What were you thinking, not even Viagra could raise this from the dead!
01/16/2007 04:39:10 PM · #263
I usually just leave the comments that I shouldn't have the guts to leave...
01/16/2007 04:44:40 PM · #264
A couple more before I get so p***ed I fall off my chair:

1. I think a total lobotomy might be in order for you.

2. There are two things certain in life, birth and death. Man, you just died!

In fact, just check out my Indecision challenge entry. Shall I take the Lens cap off! It got some of the best comments I have ever had, I still have to chuckle each time I look at them, about once a day!!

Wow! What a cool sunset! Hopefully I'll get to see a sunset in person one day. I've seen SO MANY PICTURES OF THEM. We don't have them here.

Surely you just uploaded the wrong photo. Right?

Now that you've Googled "photo contest," try Googling "photography classes" and "student financial aid."

Simon Cowell would rip this a new one.

You are the William Hung of photography. If you don't know who he is, try Google. :)

Your grandmother is just being nice, you ARE NOT a great photographer.

Great photographers LEARN the rules before they break them. You have a lot to learn.

This is the only one I'm actually surprised I didn't get on my best scoring shot ever! (Sad, but true.)

But, all that aside, here are my 'didn't have the guts' comments:

-Perhaps your purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others?

-You took this with a what? Don't say 'camera', we all know better!

-I'm not sure that scanning in a faxed copy of this image was really the way to go for post processing on this one.

-Did you take this picture with a camera phone?
-Wow...just w...o...w
-I cant believe you had the guts to enter that! Your very brave...very brave.

hehe Its a good thing that all of us really keep things to ourselves.

Ummmmmmmmm....
Actually, if I kept all of the stupid things I do to myself, I wouldn't have any shots to enter in challenges! :) (Have you seen some of the things I enter? Just look at his one:
)

:)

I would never actually put this in a comment because I think imitation is one of the best ways to learn and a great way to develop a genre with all of its intricacies and nuances.

Sometimes I just hear these thoughts go through my head though I'm generally happy to let them sail right through....generally :)

Here's another one:

I see that upgrading to a dSLR has enabled you to take even worse pictures. Well done.
