It got pretty nasty and people got offended. It got to the point where the owner of the site had to step in and delete the thread. All I can say is, if you don't have the guts the actually say it on a comment then just don't say it. IMO, saying it on a thread like this doesn't make it OK.

Cheers!

Maybe you SHOULD read through it. It's more amusing than insulting.

Wow. Totally awesome. This has got to be my favorite shot of the challenge. The only thing I'd do different would be to focus on her eyes. Maybe increase the exposure too. I might try white balancing as well. And then crop it so that she's not centered in the middle of the image. But don't forget that pictures over 320 pixels work better on this site. Oh ... and it wouldn't hurt to sharpen and add contrast either. In fact, you were probably thinking of that but just ran out of time. Oh, well. If you get a chance to re-shoot it, you might want to shoot her sister instead, I hear she's lovely. That cell phone camera, though... it's gotta go. Have you heard of Photoshop? I highly recommend giving it a try. Thanks so much for posting this image. It's going straight into my favorites because I never want to forget what I learned by examining it in every detail. You've taught me so much. Thanks again.

In response to the ubiquitous DNMC comment, I've always wanted to respond:

"When there is no money or abiltity to acquire a prop required for a challenge, it is socially acceptable to do your best, in the face of adversity."

"From your picture I can see that you are on a journey - probably one of self discovery - that is currently taking you into some dark and troubled places. Consulting with a colleague here at the institute she feels that your picture is totally awesome and would like you to come over to see her during office hours, sign your autograph on some of her papers and then enjoy the benefits of advanced tuition - she calls it cognitive based therapy - in your very own cosy, padded room."

Before anyone flames this, it is partly based on personal experience and the collective experiences of family and friends. Sometimes humour is the only edge you have in these situations :-)

Errr....are you on the right site?

I hope you don't mind- I made a simple edit to your image using just the paintbrush, which I'm sure you'll agree is a HUGE improvement.

I'll post a tutorial since this is probably an advanced editing technique for you."

- Your title is far away better than the photo. You should write.

- Since I joined DPC I started to hate flowers. I don’t know why. Sorry!

- Is that you Judi?

- Your portfolio is awesome!.... It’s a pleasure to see the same photo from different angles.

Hahahaha...you wouldn't believe that my very first nude challenge entry on here was actually mistaken for Dr Jones. I think that while I was very flattered....it really did take some courage from the author.

OUCH!
As much as I chuckled at many of these pseudo-cirtiques -- I'm now very, very afraid of posting a pic here! Just when I was ready to get into the water again!

Here's one I'd often like to leasve:

I love the work of Ansel Adams, unfortunately your landscapes suck.
