I've left comments longer than this in shorter heads, nice, polite and constructive ones, only to receive responses like "If you dont like my picture, why don't you look elsewhere?". I did and comment less now.

Feel free to fill my comment box anytime, and thanks very much for the recent fav.

a fav from zeuszen? oh no, there'll be no talking to you now... I can already see your head swelling (shut up, BradP!)

Never fear, Don, I still eagerly wait to see if I'll garner a comment from you on each challenge. :-)

Have you ever heard of Photoshop?

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but very funny so far.

• Your composition has decomposed.
• Are you serious or is this an act of terrorism?
• Your only hope for this shot is the delete key and denial
• Anne Liebovitz probably started out taking pictures of toy figurines too
• Excuse me while I sand my eyeballs
• If this is your best shot of the entire month, then my monitor must be defective
• Do you still have the receipt for your camera?
• I would have given this a much higher score, but sanity got in the way
• A powerful argument for anonymity AFTER the voting
• You may (and certainly should) request a self-DQ
• A very compelling image... I feel compelled to hurl.
• Very original! So were the other 12 entries just like it.
• Deja ewww.
• Definitely worth 1000 words... all of them "yuck"

• I'm willing to donate 20 ribbons to bind your hands and keep them off the shutter button.

This thread hurts - from laughing so much. I resemble the two quoted from Mr Calvert.

Looks like you agree with me that originality is an overrated concept.
10/12/2006 01:56:42 PM · #108
No really, I love the greenish flesh tones.
IF I turn my monitors contrast down really low that white background looks very nice.
I love how you've captured yourself so perfectly. Sure, I have no problem with a camera phone pic of you in two totally unrelated challenges.

"mmmm beer.
mmmm boobies.
-Homer Simpson
random observation, the left one looks bigger than the right"

"
pic:
God created the four elements: Water, Earth, Air and... BECK'S
Comment:
you forgot the fifth... crap"
Photographer found comment helpful.

It it just me, or does anyone else think we should have a Thick-Skinned Challenge, where comments like these can be given and submitters agree not to take offense?

Possible criteria: Must have a 5.5 average or below to compete.

How about this for a challenge idea...

Submit your worst photo...no really...we don't care when you shot it, where you shot it or what you shot it with. We're going to rip it a apart and make fun of it. The worse it is, the higher your score. No editing allowed.
10/12/2006 02:37:57 PM · #113
oh, i see you've trained your hamster to use a camera...

(i never really wanted to say that, just wanted to contribute to this thread)

what if you used editing to make it worse?

just a friendly reminder from your local site council,

While this thread is absolutely hilarious, I just want to make sure that everyone knows these are comments we would like to leave, but never have. Not comments we may have received or actually given.

Thank you and back to your regularly scheduled thread.

How did you manage to subscribe to DPC? Give back the camera to the humans.
10/12/2006 03:02:23 PM · #118
eheheh this thread is awesome...

- Your camera is a sensitive, probably competent thing. You're not.
- Your shot is totally cool... my wife had to rub alchool on my chest to make me recover from it.
- Digital photography really is awesome... this probably would have been ditched by the lab if it had to be revealed...

Ha ha ha!

Your image killed my dog!
10/12/2006 03:14:41 PM · #120
Your photo temporarily blinded me, so I had to vote with my eyes closed. Hope I didn't miss the 1.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Too often we see stunning DPC entries that make us wonder how we can ever hope to achieve such greatness. It's depressing. Then images like this come along to remind us that there's another end of the scale, and we're not that bad either. Thanks for lifting our spirits and protecting others from the dreaded Brown Ribbon!

"So nice to see proof that having a high-end DSLR doesn't automatically mean you suddenly start shooting masterpieces. I feel much better about my $200 point and shoot now."

Too late now, but before uploading I would have made a curves adjustment. Yank that center diagonal line all the way down to the 1st zone. Immediate relief!
