While this thread is absolutely hilarious, I just want to make sure that everyone knows these are comments we would like to leave, but never have. Not comments we may have received or actually given.

Thank you and back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Would it be better if I created a new thread entitled, "Post your most blunt off the cuff comments" ?
Lighten up.

Some of the comments I have received to my face while showing my portfolio to Art Directors:

"You should put down your camera and go back to work at McDonalds."

"This is crap. Who's next?"

"Come back when you figure out how your camera works."

There were many others, but these stood out.

Some comments I have contemplated leaving on some really terrible shots here (but never did and never would)

"Next time, read your camera's manual."

"You have to be smarter than your camera."

"Well, someone has to finish last..."

"Dull."

Absolutely correct. Everyone with a camera is not an Ansel Adams just as not everyone who can write is a William Faulkner. Those that have a good eye and can 'see' a good shot and take it are gifted in that area.

Using SLR equipment just takes practice as you have a lot more flexibility (generally speaking) of what can be done with the equipment. That is why they call one a "point and shoot" (little to no prep needed and the camera does the work for you). The SLR gives you more creative control and with that control can come a superb image or a really really crappy one. I know my learning curve is huge as I've just gotten into the SLR scene. Having fun with it, but I'm out of my league with a number of photographers on this site. For me, the goal is to become happy with my skill set so I'm working on that.

I love my point and shoot and it takes great quality photos, but you can do some really cool things with SLRs and you're right, it doesn't have to be the Cadillac of equipment.

Sorry if I offended you in some way. I was simply posting a reminder for someone who may have joined the party late, and wasn't sure of the "rules" of the thread.

I like the idea of a photo roast, give us your worst, and vote backwards the wost image wins the challange and the more neg comments the better, a great stress relif for the thick skinned bitter people in the world :)

1)Wow that almost looks like a real person
2) Oh good a pick of something that looks naughty how old are you 12?
3) Eeek lay off the sharp and shhot something diffrent for a change, this looks alot like the last winning entry just with more sharpening applied.
4)if the image has to have a title to make it fit the challange then don't.
5)There are some things in life I simply do not want to see, so why did you take a picture of it.
6) wow I never expected to see a flower in this challange.
7)you really should not do that to your camera, it might break.
8) Ok so you are really good in photoshop, but this is a photography contest not photo editing and painting
9)dude, thats like not even funny
10) Theres a thing called tast, try using some next time
11) Most people like it when you use DOF to isolate your subject instead of isolating your BG
12) did you look at this first?

I've seen photos with commentors using a variation of this: "First let me say what was good about this..."

[quote=LucidLotus]

Heh yeah but in this case that's ALL you put, implying there isn't anything right with it. ;)

Here are some that pop off the top of my head, and I'm really not a mean person:

- I'm all for thinking outside the box, but some things should stay in the box (tightly sealed with duct tape)

- Your kid really is a cutie, maybe the cutest kid I've EVER seen, but you could have wiped the snot/eye crust/food off his/her face before you took this

- Thank you very much for this, now it's burned permanently into my retina

- wtf were you thinking (and I'm sure this has been mentioned but I think it bears mentioning again (and again and again)

- Call 1-800-REF-UNDS, press option 1 for camera and give the Representative the link to this picture; they'll understand!
- OK, I think adobe goal was for their product to enhance a good photo, not to resurrect a dead one.
- See what you done – you made my baby cry!
- That’s not processing, that’s a problem!
- If this was golf, you just got a hole-in-1
- This is why I need a Xanax® before voting
- Bump to 1 because there’s no 0.
