because you just knew that SOMEDAY you would want one to photograph and would not be able to find it.

I still consider buying a rubber duck, because durring the rubber duck challenge I couldn't find one -anywhere-.

I also have a drawer that has dead bugs/wasps in it, smarties, different colored elastic bands....

Come on... I can't be the only weird one here...
Can I???

(posted editted to include some stuff I forgot)
Hatboxes in TWO sizes because they would look so cute with an animal sitting inside. (and are promptly collecting dust)

---
Oh since other people are putting on items they have taken photos.. so here is some of my weird one - giant dice and little tiny board.

I've bought more crap for challenges and other props I can't begin to list 'em all. But I just bought a bright yellow excersise ball for a shoot next week, and no, I don't excersise!

I currently have some glittery oversized ball & jacks (photograph like crap), several unused packs of playing cards, and rock candy. Like the jacks, the rock candy didn't photograph well (color on color or B&W in color), but at least I can eat it.

hell if we are talking challenges I waste all kinds of money. my wife or I usually by crap for all the challenges or some times many different things for one and never use them. for instance we bought 4 things for gold that we didn't use. I saw a photo in a recent challenge that was a burning $10 bill. that person wasted less money than I did on that chalenge.

Partially for the reasons mentioned and partially to satisfy my own obsession:

1. On three seperate occasions: Giant Phidippus Regius jumping spiders. Fed them a diet of crickets until they hatched a litter of babies; then let them all go.

2. A tank full of snails and slugs.

3. At one time or another, just about every other little creature that crossed my path. Always let them go afterwards.

I foprgot about the other props I've bought for challenges...

Barbie and car :-)

He's broken, but hangs around as a prop.

I aquired this laptop to use speciically as a prop.

I guess I could have found better uses for a certain prop here... but oh well :-)

No, these aren't mine :-P

Funny.. I was actually wondering about that laptop when I first saw the photo in the challenge. Keyboard + sand... ahh!

Not exactly the weirdest but 'borrowed' this sax from a local shop for the gold challenge and ended up keeping it! I can't read music but got a note out of it the other day (was definately 'something' flat lol).

I thought it might keep me away from the pc for 30 mins a day.

*speedily edited to say*

I did pay for it!

I bought a full-sized, Asian-art-inspired paper parasol at a party supply store...along with a child-sized black bowler hat, a black feather boas and a couple of mardi-gras masks...just in case.

The trip to the store to buy a rubber duck, green grapes, a pink feather boa, bottled water, and a piece of blue posterboard was memorable though. ;)

Yeah, I guess so. I forget if we had the turkey for lunch that day ... we have a small kitchen-like area at work, and a turkey bone is far from the most exotic thing you'd have found there over the years -- we have people who hail from Thailand, Iran, Philippines, Pakistan, Mexico, one Japanese-American, and even a third-generation Californian (me)!

I found a 4 ft martini glass at TJ Max -- there are days when I think filling the darn thing with a martini and a loooooong straw would be a good idea! I keep it in my office "just in case."
