2 entries found for silhouette.
sil·hou·ette Audio pronunciation of "silhouette" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sl-t)
n.

1. A drawing consisting of the outline of something, especially a human profile, filled in with a solid color.
2. An outline that appears dark against a light background.

I haven't voted yet but......

bazz.

I guess we have the same dictionary. When I read 2. An outline that appears dark against a light background. [/b], I kind of assummed the outline was of a solid color, as is implied ty the first defination 1. A drawing consisting of the outline of something, especially a human profile, filled in with a solid color. oh well. I've screwed up bigger things then this. I take DPC serious, it's a great vessle for learning, but I don't take it personal good luck all

Before I go to bed, I really need to get this off my chest. This has got to be the WORST challenge I have seen on this site to date when it comes to entries. Normally I would stay up and vote them all, but I couldn't even bring myself to do that. I will continue at another date.

Not to blow my own horn, but I know for a fact my shot is worth more than a 4.6, but then again, those that I saw that I thought were great, WERE great, and much better then mine. Unfortunately, that was only about 5 or so in 197 entries that I felt deserved a 9 or 10. A couple of 8's, a few 6's and NO 7's, so the rest are 5 and WAY below in my opinion. Just horrible.

Certainly I am doing badly myself, although I know I was better than the last 100 photos I saw, but not as good as my top picks. GEEESH. Makes me sorry I didn't enter recipe! LOL.....

At least I know for a FACT I will not brown out. LOL....There are WAY too many candidates for that! LOL....

One more hit on the update, and off to bed for this gal. Good luck to you guys!!

Rose

Gee....I feel so much better about making the effort to put in an entry now. Thanks!

Have to agree with you there.

I don't have a creative bone in my body but really enjoy seeing what the gifted ones come up with.

cheers,

Well, I disagree. I just went through the all the entries and there were some great photos... SO, to help offset the cranky elements in the DPC community, I've just handed out a bunch of high scores to some of the ones I liked as follows...

21 sevens
18 eights
5 nines

I left comments on those photos. So if you have one, then I gave you between 7-9. Enjoy! My own entry started at a 6 and has now fallen to 5. Meh, at least I like it :)

Hey, you missed me, C-town driver. LOL
I'm not cranky, just puzzled. Looks like it will be my worst score ever. Just when I was getting comfortable in the 5's, too. Oh well...there's always the next Challenge!

Do bear in mind, the challenge was "Backlighting" and not "Silhouette". I do not mean to be argumenative, but much more can be done with backlight than just silhouetting. :o)

Do not take it seriously. It is not worth crap. What is worth something is how you present your vision. This is only one site, like one gallery. There are thousands of galleries. Some will take your art and call it genius, others will call it crap. Place the photos on all sorts of sites. here you maybe told it is only worth a 5, but after the first $100 dollars in sales for the same image on a different site, you will realize that different strokes for different folks.

Mine is already less then a 5, but is earning me money on the stock sites. I would rather have the money.

You have an image that was taken within the last week that is "already earning [you] money on the stock sites" (note the plural)? Damn that's fast work!

Here's my take, I did something different and learned a new technique. That is what I take from this site.

I'm new to submitting to challenges ~ how are ya'll seeing your scores so far? I'm lost . . . !

Good to be back on. I just recently subscribed and am going to try to use the productive critical commenting by this community to get a bit sharper with my photography.

But damn... part of me just wants to track my scores... lol.

Yes, thanks for the comment C-Town, unfortunately you must be the only one to think it deserves a 7 or more, because my score sucks. I *thought* it was a good photo.

Keeps going down and down. Probably another sub-6 image for Captain 5.9xxx when everything will be said and done. But I really don't care. My mantra for 2006 is try the best I can and submit images to DPC that I truly like and consider fitting the challenges.

After my final touchups yesterday, I reached the inescapable conclusion that I had an entry that would score at least a 6. It's a good feeling. Then the voting started and my conclusion escaped. :-(

Dang, now you have me wondering which of those high scores you gave me!
Thanks BTW I was worried my photo may not go over well, but its in the mid 5's which is OK with me since I couldnt make it like I wanted too.
