Always watch the vote count, which I am sure you do. Sometimes you get two vote one with comment and one without. Also to consider are those with a low voting average. These folks give a 5 to a "nice photo" lol

The low voters hurt the most when you have a score of 7 and they splash you with a six. They don't realize that their generous gift has just lowered your score. lol

Not to complain (much), but today I have gone from 6.548 to 6.381. This includes among others 4 twos and 3 tens. Now either people with poorly calibrated monitors are thinking they see silhouette or they're intentionally knocking a good picture. Atleast that's my take on it.

Thanks Dan, I can often see each vote, but life gets in the way (ie. work) and I miss a few here and there. It always seems to be in those 3-5 vote blocks that I'll get a comment like this but a massive drop in my score. It certainly doesn't mean this person did it, and I don't even know if at 140 votes one vote could drop you 0.13, but it sticks in your craw nonetheless.

As you can see, I took a huge hit as well. (5.83-5.69) But I calculated it's too big for one vote.

What are you saying here? Are you saying that was your score at 40, 80, and 120 votes? or are you saying that was your average for that block of votes. Either way it doesn't make sense and I wonder if this isn't a server error rather than trolls. You seem to say that you have both a 5.9 and a 5.7 at 142 votes. Although changing votes is a possible answer, I don't think it's very likely...

I wrote a script that automatically checks my scores every 5 minutes and logs the results to a database. So I can see real-time results. I've can even view a graph of the vots & how they affect the average. The only thing that throws it off is when somebody goes back & changes a score. Sometimes it doesn't catch every vote if there is more than one vote in a 5 minute period.

Here's a sample of my backlight graph. Click to enlarge

sorry, wasn't very clear was it.
I'm saying that the first 40 votes averaged 5.125, then the next 40 averaged 5.820, etc.

first 40 5.125
next 40 5.820 - (cumulative 5.4875)
next 40 6.075 - (cumulative 5.6833)
last 22 5.909

for a score (so far) of 5.7183

just wondering if scores usually bounce around like that. it would be WAY NICE to drop the 1st 40. But, they are probably more correct than the last 102

Sure, the light's coming more from above than from beneath (that's why you get the rimlight on the top) but backlighting can come from all sorts of angles; "backlighting" doesn't mean "directly into the light" as I'm positive (from your post) you understand. In any case, the strong rimlighting is one definitive feature of most studio backlighting.
