...sorry but I can't take you. (Sorry, old song stuck in my head).

I'll be in Chicago May 27-31 on vacation- what should I shoot?? Here are some sightseeing suggestions from a non-photography friend of mine:

US ( uncle steve's) Blues Bar, if it is still there

Buddy Guys's blues bar

Chicagofest or Taste of Chicago (check to see if that is happening)

Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley ( day game, if possible and sit in the bleachers!)

Eat at Lou Malanati's pizza place

Navy Pier - fun place

Go up in Sears tower and John Hancock tower (I think you can up a high as 90 stories)

Water Tower Place to shop

Go see Buckingham Fountain ( it is the one from Married with Children TV show)

Take a boat ride on the chicago river

Anyone else? Or any tips? Like if I'm on the 90th floor of a building, which lens should I use for some cool shots? ;)

Visit the art institute
The chicago theatre
uno's pizzaria(The original)
Lincoln park zoo
Have a great time, and good luck getting them bleacher seats!

Thanks for that- I'll add them to my list!

I love Chicago. John Hancock tower isn't quite as tall as the Sears tower but it has a better view. There are some great museums in Chicago. Check out a comedy show at Second City if you get a chance. It's a lot of fun.

Here's a guide to a few of Chicago's attractions:

The newest attraction of course: Chicago's Millennium Park with the Bean, the Pritzker Music Pavilion, the BP Bridge, Crown Fountain ...

The bean may still be under canopy when you get here though.

View of/from the Hancock Tower (from 94th or 95th floor):

Michigan Ave for shopping

Lake Michigan and Skyline and Buildings (Chicago is considered to be the Architectural Center of the World)

Navy Pier

Lincoln Park, Lincoln Park Zoo and Conservatory

Art Institute and other Museums

Buckingham Fountain and Grant Park

Enjoy your stay! (I would have loved to have a mini-photo safari with you but I am out of town that week-end :-)).

Are you still allowed to take pics of the bean? I recall reading some real controversy about that!

I think a GTG would be cool! Unfortunately I'll be coming with 3 non-photography people so I think I'll be outvoted :(

Ooh! That sounds like a great place for photos too maybe??

I leave for Chicago on Friday! Looking forward to it. I've been so stupid busy I haven't had time to really plan the trip much. That's what I'll do tonight at work. While I should be working :D

And if anyone is interested, here's the *BIG* gallery that I'm sharing with friends and family. Some other interesting shots in there too.

Went through the big gallery quickly, but you have some great photos in there. Looks like you had a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I can get back up there this summer.

Edit: The view from the lounge at the top of the Hancock building is great, isn't it? Beer ain't cheap though. =)

Yep, the view was amazing. We went up a second time, cause I couldn't think of anywhere I'd rather be for sunset on our last night. EVERYTHING there was expensive, but we lived it up- martinis, appetizers, sandwiches, the works. It was worth it :) Very memorable trip.

I'm looking thru your gallery now, but had to come back to comment. Besides feeling homesick (thank you very much) because of your pictures, I just have to ask; is that BradP on the far left of your Michigan Ave pic? :-)
That guy is everywhere!
