I just wanted to photographically represent the state of losing one's mind. I picture it as standing on the edge of the roof of a skyscraper, fighting vertigo ... and cloudiness of mind.

This photograph was taken from the 94th floor of the John Hancock Tower in Chicago looking down the corner of Michigan and Chicago Avenues in the Manificent Mile area of the city. The tower on the left is the Water Tower, the only remaining structure after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

I had the camera upside down, rested it on the window pane to steady it and took the shot. Post processing included rotation, curves to darken and compensate for the glass glare, cropping, resizing and sharpening.

I wonder how a nightshot would feel.

This makes me feel like I'm falling off the edge just looking at it. Cool.

Interesting angle, and the thought is good. I'm not liking the color though. Seems like maybe the weather was not cooperating much, and had put a haze over your whole image. All the cars are out of focus and because there are so many of them, seem to me more of a distraction than anything attractive. The distortion alone the top of your image is also distracting. What caused this? You can mainly see it in the upper left on the windows. It's a different kind of angle, which does make it interesting, and my issues with the shot are really beyond your control, but better lighting and less cars would definately make this more appealing to me.

Please rotate the image by 180°. I get sick watching this like it is. Give you -4 but would have give you 6 if you would have rotate the image.

Woooh, I just get dizzy looking at this one, very nice perspective. But what's with the dark shadow on the top of the frame? Is that the edge?

Interesting perspective. I would have avoided the ledge at the top.

Interesting shot. Needs a little more punch to bring out the colors

This is shot fram an interesting angle, and it creates visually exciting photo. The title is chilling - why does this represent an edge of sanity? Is the contemplation of jumping the only reason someone might enjoy the view from the edge of a roof?

Effective - it gives me vertigo!

I would have rotated it 180 degrees, this way I have an unnatural feeling of looking down from a roof. :-) Good idea, the dark part of the top is a bit distracting, I would have inclded just a tiny stripe to show the roof itself.

sorry you had to shoot trough a window, the curved glass spoils a bit of the photo. nice perpective, love the reverse angle. sure feels like the point of view of someone on the edge of sanity.

There is lot's of digital noise in this picture, but if I were that close to the edge...not much time for focusing and exposure I guess. Nice idea for the challenge

Do you took this picture or took the picture of a picture?
There is a so "photographically strange" distortion on the windows of a top left building, near of the black top of picture. This is not acptable lens aberration. This point can´t be distorched be pincussion or other knowed lens issue, in that position. It is very strange.

Great idea, I like it, posting this upside down really adds extra feeling of depth to it. Looking over the edge.

this photo would make more "sense" if it were spun 180 degrees... great pic anyway

This is the sort of photo I wanted to take, but couldn't because I live in a small town. I'm getting vertigo just looking at it!

not sure rotating this helped. The dissonance detracts a bit from the feeling of being on the edge (or maybe he's OVER the edge ;)) when i stand on my head i like it better.
