This is a perfect time to say that the final images submitted must be approved by Lee and myself. :)

Aw, I was just looking for an excuse to use the accented "e" character ... besides, I'm just kibbitzing on this project -- you won't have to reject any of my photos : )

i'm thinking for 50 images to be on a poster sized print - they are going to be fairly small images...

Hm...this is a concern that we will have to take into consideration. Thanks for bringing that up. The thought had previously crossed my mind...of to figure it out!

It won't be too bad.. it's more about the collection of images than any single image when you do something like this.

Sure they will. The real impact on this kind of project is in the overall feel of the images. What about the size of the image is concerning you?

Florida: In God We Trust

I could get a photo of a church for that one. Count me in :)

i know it is ( about the whole ), but if they are too small then you have to take that into consideration when picking a subject.

Out where?

I already have one project going and offered my services IF nobody else stepped up to the plate.

I also have the High School Wrestling Team (Poway) starting it's season tomorrow and for the next few months, will be traveling around the State & Nevada, as their photographer. They almost always finish in the top 3 in the State (they have finished in the top five at the State Tournament 15 times since the tournament was established in 1973) and my son was ranked 7th in the State pre-season this year.

Gonna' be a busy schedule here real soon - my shop, the Team, their website (which I host) and what else can I manage...

LOL

The deadline for this will probably extend through six months so there is no urgent need for photos. If you think that you will be able to pull it off, let us know! :)

Missouri: Salus populi suprema lex esto (Latin, "Let the good of the people be the supreme law")

You know, I have lived in Missouri all my life and have never heard that motto. :p

The unofficial slogan of "Show Me" is much more fitting. "Show Me" is even beats the official motto out for a spot on our license plates. :D

I have no clue what I would photograph for the official motto, but if it keeps the project moving I'll give it a try -- although the unofficial slogan is much more interesting.

I'll step aside as an alternate, if we are alling 'dibs', should another speak up with a better sense of the official state motto.

David

I'm with you David. I've lived here all of my life and I never, ever heard that slogan. It's not even on our flag! I thought "Show Me" was the official motto? And after living here for so long I don't think that (the official) motto applies to any of the Missourians I know, and I can't think of any way to photograph it.

I'll give a try at backing up KathyC for Washington although she should do well living in the heart of the evergreen part of the Evergreen State.

If we don't get Alaska and Hawaii, you could do a 3-row x 12-column 60" x 12" print (which DPCPrints offers). That would make each photo a nice even 5" x 4" (which also happens to be the same aspect ratio as an 8x10). Obviously all the submissions would have to be landscape orientation to follow this format... unless you did the 60" axis up and down, in which case the prints would be 4" x 5" and would all need to be portrait... Anyway, just an idea. The 60"x12" print seemed to offer the most "square inches" of printable space when I looked at the list, and would definitely be a "unique" size...

that's a lot of horizontal wall space.

and at the same time basically eats up the vertical wall space at the same time.

i'm thinking, maybe split it into three or four seperate posters. maybe by time zone?... offer them as a set.

and a new thought - if time zones flies: possibly - Morning, Noon, Evening, and Night. ( EST, CST, MST, PST )

The final formatting will be decided once we have all 50 states lined up. :) It's way early in the game to worry about formatting issues. :)

After some discussion (and several PMs from folks who are bumming because their state has someone signed up for it), Tranquil and I have decided to do the following:

The first 5 people per state who sign up will be given a shooting assignment. From any state with multiple entries, Lee and I will make the final selection.

This was we can mantain our overall editorial vision for the poster while still allowing as many people as possible to have a good shot at participating. This should be fun, and I'm looking forward to what we can come up with!
