Gorgeous. For the record, it just isn't fair that I can't live somwhere where I can take this kind of shot. This is great. I think top 10 - 9

Star filters are always fun. I've used them in several challenge shots. I think in this shot they are meant to be the focal point, and they just dominate the image. I'd rather see them as an accent instead of the subject. I think the stars need to be greatly diminished so that you could expose this picture more without the stars overpowering the image even more.

This subject in no way conveys to me anything about dark. It seems lit too much to really imply anything about darkness either. The texture of the petals is pretty good, but overall I don't think this relates to the challenge as well as it should.

Nicely framed sunset. The monochromatic sky is something I usually don't like, but I think its kinda neat when its sandwiched between these 2 rock forms 8

This is just a little bit soft. I think I'm missing the point of the composition.

Lots of noise and banding on this photo. I like the idea a lot, just something wasn't just right with the camera. There are also a few hot spots and the crop is a little tight. I don't hate this photo honest... I see that there is a lot of potential with this photo. At least enough to encourage you to go shoot it again, for what it's worth. Good luck!

I love the way the tree looks like its standing out of the photo. Great job with the lighting and exposure of this shot. Nice work - 9

Nicely done. I like the 2 beams of light going up toward the sky. Might be a little more exposed than I'd like to see it, but very very close. Good work and good luck

It looks a bit like its running downhill from R to L. Its busy, which does convey something about the photo, but leaves me looking for some focal point. The size of the image is definitely not helping things. This has a lot of potential, but as is, its not terribly strong

Composition - Interesting effect of the drops on the berries. However the real effect that its having on them is somewhat distorted by the angle. There isn't enough contrast to really be able to see that the water drops are refracting the berries a little, instead they look like little upside down red pears. I think for this compositon, if you cropped it, you cropped too much from the top. If not, then you need to move back just a bit and capture more of the berries. Their placement in the frame could be better.

Technical - The colors are a little dull but more importantly, this is not a very clear image. The focus is off a little more than slightly. That's always the kiss of death around here, unless soft focus is the challenge. You have a very capable camera, so the only thing that really could remedy that is using a tripod, or just taking a few more of them to make sure you get one that's crystal clear and tack sharp. The color of the berries could be definitely boosted and made brighter for better visual impact.

Overall - I'm not particularly fond of this photo. I would chalk it up as a learning experience and move on. Especially in a macro challenge, the clearest pictures place well. Photos that are spot on tack sharp do not do well. Best of luck in your future challenges - Bob
