re-visiting my faves...
this is another image that i immediately latched on to upon discovering the dpc galleries. of course, i was taken by the iamge--it is killer! but, what is more important to me is the lesson it offers in looking for potential in the world around you.
by day, this shot would barely register as a boring postcard (well, maybe a bit above--the curve leads nicely to the wave-like horizon--if the skies offered something). but instead of simply treating it like the 1000s and 1000s of others who pass this way, mark saw the potential in what the vista could offer with the proper lighting. granted, he may have gotten lucky with the skies, but, all the same, he had a vision of what he could capture, and just look at the result! stunning!
this image is a great reminder that not only should you always be looking while you are out and about, but you should also be asking yourself, "how would that or that look with a different light?" there is no limit as to what you may capture if you learn to slow down your eyes.

| Great Shot, especially as I live in Lancing (the lights in the distance). I had a similar idea to take a shot from there. It's good to know I am thinking like a great photographer. |

Oh my.... I would have to get one that blows my mind!!!
I know during the competition I voted for this and commented, and I just kept going back to look at it!
I love the colors you got in the shot! The sky is gorgeous, the traffic looks awesome, and lights of the very distant town just make this shot great! The way your eyes just follow the highway is really neat, and the letters on the road blow my mind! That is just too cool! I also like how the highway ramps seem to break up the distant town and the road that's close.
I must say, the only things that bother me are the plane and that building in the upper right (I know, you heard it before).
I wish I could take a shot like this....

| Good show Mark. I thought this might have been yours. The colours in the sky really bring quite a bit to this photo, as do the lights from the city. Congrats on 6th! |

| A classic night time shot. I like the sweep on the road up and to the left. Wish that aiplane hadn't gone across just then - it pulls my eyes a bit away from the lines of lights and the road. I like the orange glow on the horizon. 8 |

| I kept passing this shot by when viewing the thumbnails. Light trails have been done to death and I wasn't going to viewyet another copy. But every time the thumbnails loaded, I kept catching myself looking first at this one, and finding the red, blue and white very appealing. As you can see, in the end I gave in and came for a fuller view. I love it a lot. The lights of the distant town, the curved road with plenty of powerful black visible. Yum! |

| Normally I don't like these type of shots, but this is done well. Plus the colors of the sky adds a nice touch. |

| Excellent colors - sky adds to the drama. Small criticism - the lights in the upper right pull my eye there but to nothing interesting (whereas the road pulls me to the neat light on the horizon) Overall, well done. |

Technical: fits the challenge. Exposure lighting composition focus all excellent.
Personal: Gorgeous shot- everything is so clean and sharp! Beautiful colors.

| Very nice job with the long exposure! I especially like the gradient in the sky in the background, and the fact that you can read the numbers on the road. Too bad a plane flew by at this moment... that little distraction is the only thing keeping me from giving this a 10. |
