Joyfulby shutterphunkComment: Ah, a scene from the 20s! Very classic-looking. I like the composition a lot. Good work! |

Asymetricalby TelehubbieComment: Althought this is very dark, it does work because most of the detail is still visible. Great capture. |

I know. I almost reshot it, but decided one was enough. |

A conniving glanceby LouisonComment: Originally posted by rgo: ok, that's just freaky. this shot, in many many ways, reminds me of ME...say...10 to 15 years ago. Uncanny...
That aside, I really like the soft light qualities here, and the shadows work really well. If you'd not mind, can you describe a little bit about the light set up? Nice stuff :) |
I simply used one home-made softbox to the right of the camera, at about a 45-degree angle from my model. He was leaning forward a little, so the light comes from a slightly higher spot.
I also used a black radial gradient layer in post-processing, to hide the clean cut of his arm and sleeve on the light's side. The rest of the image was already fading to black. |

Nightbulb by scalvertComment: Superb work. (a favorite!)
What about the starry night sky, was it also in the photo of the moon in your monitor? |

Detached and Lostby Sherri1209Comment: This is poetic. I would much prefer the lttle leaf to be away from the center, but the effect of the shallow DoF and the backlight is very good. |
