Challenge: Rain (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S3000
Location: Universal City, CA
Date: Aug 8, 2005
Galleries: Architecture, Water
Date Uploaded: Aug 14, 2005

This was taken at Universal Studios at a backlot set up to look like old Mexico. They turned on the rain to show us how they could create a shower, so I snapped this shot. I worked with some filters, desat and crop.

The motion of the rain gives the photo a painterly feel. The color tones also help with giving a feel of a rainy day caught on canvas.

excellent pp!! I love the colors, those cyans look cool and minty:)

Congrats on 15K. This shot looks like a painting. I love the cool tones. If i could humbly suggest cropping a touch off of the top. The light colored foliage is distracting accross the top and a crop brings the line of both roofs into a more prominant position. (both with nice diagonals).

Here i go again, suggesting cropping to you! Again, thanks for all the comments.

edit: Oops, just read the other comments and looks like i am late to the party. :)

Missed this one in the challenge. Like your use of filters to enhance the feel and the tint. Cropping out the tree bits at the top would cut out some of the interesting roof but the trees detract from the image in a small way. As presented -- great work

I've seen this before on a few visits to Universal Studios - but never in the way you have captured and processed it here. Wow... I LOVE this shot and added it to my favorites. ¡Simplemente Fantástico!

Great image and this was a very hard challenge in my view. I may have cropped this one a little further down from the top to give it a little more darker feel but that is just my taste. well done Judy

This is really neat. Figures the first one I click I really like. At first, I was like 'aha! bright light in the upper left', but then as I looked at it further, I like it that way. I really think it has a nice overall lighting. The rain kind of gives this a watercolorry feel to it. Really nice angle and framing/cropping. Focus is right where it needs to be in my opinion. Great shot! ~Heather~ (1 of 10 comments I'll be giving Judy)

What a cool picture, Judy! It has such atmosphere. I really thought it was taken in a heavy storm in Mexico! Won't be long now and you'll be getting a ribbon with great pictures like this.

It seems that there are many compression artifacts on this picture (many squares). Next time you could try to go up to the 150kB limit.

Very nice image. It's a deft composition; just enough of the building to show us what it is, but not so much that it loses its charm & intimacy. Really terrific rain; it's bucketing down! 7
