It must bee great to have these about where you can see them wild, but like you said, they are very destructive. I have seen a documentary about them on TV.
The way this is lit, I am thinking that there may have been water or a reflective surface behind you, giving the shot a lot of front light from below.
I had a Goffins Too as a pet, and I miss him a lot. My son had him outside, and the alarm buzzer on the clothes drier caused him to fly away.

Good shot! You even have good detail in the snow in this. We do not have these in this part of the country, so I find this shot even more interesting.

This is way cool! I didn't know that they had gators in Co. I like the eye level view in this shot. The super wide format works good for this view too, with the long nose.

The ground level point of view makes this shot a lot stronger than it would have otherwise been. The wet grass and front paws, and the one sprig of plant in the BG also add a lot to making the photo engaging to view.

What beautiful feathers on that bird. It's difficult to shoot this sort of shot with one hand and not shake the camera. I think that I would have tried to turn so that the bird would be more in front of the darker tree instead of the bright background.
I am wondering if you used fill flash? If you did, it's just the right amount for the shot. The exposure for the bird is right on, and the highlight in the eye is good too.

First, this is a very good shot of the bird and the background combo. I like the way the texture in the rock matches the lines of the birds body.
I think that this bird may be an insect eater, and the reason is because of it's big eyes, which make me think that it flies in twilight or at night.
It's a beautiful bird, and looks somewhat like an American bird, the kestrel.
