Welcome to DPC, Jimmy!
That's a pretty nice looking long whiskered cat. The edge of the chair is a distraction in this shot, perhaps it would have made a better shot if the cat was on the chair. The good sharp focus on the near eye and the whiskers is very nice. This shot and the Cat 2 shot appear to have been shot in incandescent light, causing a little of a yellowish cast. You may want to experiment with the different white balance settings in your D90. That way, you can compensate for whatever lighting you are shooting in, and the colors will look natural.
I hope that this comment does not come off as blunt for a first comment. I found that the comments that actually let me know what needs fixing are the best ones for me, because I learn how other people are seeing my photos, and how they react to them.
I wish you a good time here at DPC, and hope that you will enjoy the site, meet a lot of nice people, and learn much.

I am surprised that you spotted him. He blends right into the brush.
Most people do not take time to get a good photo of a rat in it's environment like this. They are wild animals too, and a part of the ecosystem, and are here to stay, probably longer than humans will be here.
Good focus and detail in the hair.

A lot of elements make this shot unique. The two dimensional background, the crossing lines that bring attention right to the subject, and then there is that umbrella. The overall softness of the colors because it is in winter and overcast is nice too.

That's beautiful. One of my high school buddies bought the first model of the 442 Olds about 1967. That was one BAD car! It would outrun the local 396 Chevelles in the quarter mile.

Sharpness on the subject, with good isolation and great bokeh make this a sweet shot.

This looks pretty nice to me. These little guys are a lot of entertainment when they are around. The nice green grassy BG is good for this shot.

It must bee great to have these about where you can see them wild, but like you said, they are very destructive. I have seen a documentary about them on TV.
The way this is lit, I am thinking that there may have been water or a reflective surface behind you, giving the shot a lot of front light from below.
I had a Goffins Too as a pet, and I miss him a lot. My son had him outside, and the alarm buzzer on the clothes drier caused him to fly away.

Cool, so tiny and yet so much like it's larger cousins. Beautiful shot, and at such low shutter speed too. The IS showed it's ability with this one.
