i thought that was ancient symbolism too. this is different and i do not know what my reaction would have been in the challenge - i didn't vote so i didn't look! but, well, i guess i have an idea now of what to do with some toothpics lol. Anyway, this is very creative - I would never have thought to put this all together in one pic.

love the patterns and lines. i think because the background is simple that means that to me, this does not come across as a busy pic. the lines are just a natural part of your subject.

personally i love the background. you've got a great contrast between life and death (life in the background of course). And if you had just taken a pic of the headstones, I think it would have been a boring pic!

too bad we cannot clone out traffic lights in real life lol. the sky looks awesome and the clarity of it really helps the building stand out apart from it.

woman you are so critical of yourself! this is cool. is it the same photo? blurred regular size on the bottom and a smaller version on top? love the alignment between the background pic and the foreground pic. i'll have to try this some day.
